I need some help guys - We are driving to Orlando (again) and this time we want more room in the car!!!! I've been doing some research on cargo carriers (soft) and so far no luck - I'm wondering if any of you know which is the best and where can I buy? We would like and average size (just enough to get some bags on top of the car and out of our way) Also, not looking to spend a fortune - Any help with this is appreciated - Thanks so much!

I forget how much we paid, but we got ours in Sears. Its just great. We fill it up with all our luggage and leave only a few bags that we need with us in the car. I think its the Sears brand. We have a Van and an Explorer and it fits perfectly on both cars.

This is so funny because we were having the same problem! I found the soft one (15 ft.) at Dicks Sporting Goods. The tag said 39.99, but it rang up $29.99. It is by Northeast Outfitters and can attatch with or without a luggage rack on the car/SUV. They also had the hard top one (18ft.) for 99.00. It is also in the Sears ad this week for 99.00, which we were going to buy until we stumbled upon this cheap one in Dicks. We won't use it too often and I think it will fit the bill. Hope this helps! :wave2:

Thanks so much! My husband suggested I check Dicks - Of course it's the one site I didn't look at - We just got a Dicks in our area now - I agree that price is great! I also like the roof rack or not feature - I'm glad for you and I hope we luck out too - I'll let you know - Thanks again and happy traveling:wave2:

Thank you so so so so much - We just got back from Dick's sporting goods - Got the same carrier for the same price! (29.99) We think it has to be as good as the Samsonite on Ebay going for 59.99 - I'm very pleased with the material - I was afraid of getting one to thin - I'll let you know what we think of it on the trip!

Happy trip planning!!!:wave2:

I just wanted to tell you we have one of these and it works very well. We got ours at Target. A lot of dead bugs on it when we stopped, though. We packed our bags inside of black garbage bags and put it up there because it said water resistant and not waterproof. You never know when you are going to have a downpour on the way down.

I've read on some boards that if you use one without a luggage rack, (and sometimes with one as well) it can scratch up the paint pretty badly. May want to consider a blanket underneath.

I like the little flat platform that sits behind the vehicle, locked into a bumper hitch. Less/no wind resistance, and easier to access and load.

We have the big gray one from Sears. Friends of ours have a newer one by Thule. They aren't as tall. I would check at Sears too.
