wakes me up EVERY night! This just started about six months ago. I can't take it anymore! This past Monday, he started a job in Rhode Island, so I have the bed to myself from Monday thru Wednesday (he comes home on Thursday nights). I slept fine...straight through till the alarm woke me up all week. Last night, in the middle of the night, I got woken up from the snoring. He mentioned today that he doesn't appreciate waking up with a pillow over his face...honestly, I don't remember doing that! lol Any remedies I can try? I already told him he's moving into the room of the first kid who moves out, but he didn't like that idea.

I've got a sure fire cure that you may not like. Have him leave you for someone else.

I just realized that I don't have to worry about that anymore. Yay!!!!! Seriously some nights I thought I would gladly strangle him, I needed sleep and had no way of getting it.
I kicked my daughter out of her bed a couple times, just because I was going stark raving mad.

Nothing I tried helped at all. I tried to send him to the doctor but he didn't think it was a problem.

Groosch!...I kant tell yer any answers...but I kan tell yer that guys who are overweight, or folks who have a few drinks are likely ter snor....I'm nernt saying yer DH has either of these issues ter deal with...but thought you might want to be aware of 'em. :)

Here's how I deal with Gene's snoring:

-I sleep upside down (with my head at the foot of the bed.)

-I wear ear plugs.

-We have a big fan going year round right behind my head.

And I still hear him snore sometimes!!! Good luck! :teeth:

Yeah Laura, I did everything but sleep upside down. :)

I've heard the best thing is to NOT let the snorer sleep on his/her back. They also sell some stuff in drugstores to help prevent the snoring. But I've also heard snoring is related to sleep apnea. He probably wakes up groggier when he snores the most.

Snoring can be related to sleep apnea, but not always. Gene used to only snore on his back, but he's learned to snore on his sides in his old age.

Poke him in the ribs!!It works for me , but DH hates it. I then sweetly tell him to turn over on his side.;)

A woman once told me she sewed a pocket into the back of her husband's pjs. At night she would tuck a tennis ball into the pocket. That way when he rolled onto his back it wasn't comfortable. I never tried it though.

DH did use Breathe Right strips. They are the same thing that you see athletes wearing. Holds your nose passages open. It did help with the snoring a little.

I never realized how loud DH's snoring had gotten until he discovered he had sleep apnea. His new machine keeps him from snoring at all. Nights are very quiet now. Makes me nervous that I will snore and bother him!

I agree, poke him in the ribs and make him turn on his side! My DH only snores if he is on his back. I've also heard if you sew a tennis ball into the back of his PJs he can never sleep on his back. :teeth:

Sleep apnea is also a concern and if he just started snoring recently I would have that checked out.

Other than that, get some good earplugs and put a pillow over YOUR head! :)

Thanks, girls, for the suggestions. I do the "poke him in the ribs" trick, and it usually works...he'll roll over, but sometimes he still snores, even on his side. I thought about wearing ear plugs, but I'm afraid I won't hear my alarm and oversleep. I'm going to sleep at the foot of the bed tonight, see if that works.

My uncle used this product and auntie says it works. I do not sell it believe me, but if you are going nuts... hopefully there are no allergies. Hope you don't mind me suggesting this but can you imagine all the snorers put together at WDW? It would be louder than all the rides put together.

MY DH has the same problem and it drives me NUTS!!! He went to the Doctor and they told him about some type of surgery he could have but that seems too drastic to us. He went back to the doctor a few months ago because the snoring was getting worse so now he has a mask he wears at night that blows air into his nose. It has really helped with his snoring and the noise of the machine doesn't bother me. It has put a damper on the romance department but hey, I am sleeping at night :(

My husband would probably love some tips on how to make somebody stop grinding their teeth and waking him up if you have any ideas. It seems I'm driving him insane. LOL

We've literally tried everything. DH has been tested for sleep apnea and tested negative for it. He has had his nose straightened and had surgery on this throat and has even been given a device to wear in his mouth to keep from snoring (he broke it by biting it). He snores on his back, side and stomach. And he's so loud at times that he wakes himself up!

Sometimes they just need their own space at least part of the time. Your DH doesn't sound this bad or at least I don't think so?

Sharon I feel your pain. I had DH tested for sleep apnea but they say he did not have that. BUT they say he snores 95% of the night. Tell me something I don't know. He is now snoring on his side, and many many nights sleeps in the recliner in the den. Oh yea, he chokes and gasps too...but they say he does not have sleep apnea...yea right! He needs to lose weight...no wait I am not suppose to say that or I will be showing no empathy. I sleep the best when he is not in bed with me. Oh and he has frequent body movements. Actually I am severely sleep deprived...is it showing?? ;)

PS Bridget, go to the dentist and for a mere several hundred dollars they can make you a night guard that will stop that and save your teeth and jaw too.

Donna, I went to the dentist and they said I am the perfect case study of somebody that grinds their teeth. I bought the doo-hickey, cost me $300. I put it in my mouth at night and somewhere in the night I throw it across the room. I can't even stand putting it in my mouth anymore, I feel like I have a football mouth guard in there.

Okay now don't tell DH but ........

I found a way to stop him from snoring! You see I have very cold feet and usually sleep with socks on my feet (no matter what the season). Well, one night when DH woke me from a sound sleep with his snoring I took off a sock and touched his leg with my cold foot (LOL!!!). He grumbled a little bit, rolled over and fell back to sleep without any more snoring! I've been doing this trick for many years and it always works. If he only knew why he was waking up he'd probably kick me out of bed! LOL!!! Annmarie

Well Bridget, I cannot say for sure, but I DO think it needs to be in your mouth in order to work!!!:p
