Question for the married ladies (and some who aren't) HELP...my husband's snoring...

Yup, that's the only thing that worked for us! We've been married 27 years yesterday, and 3-4 years ago I started sleeping in another room. He balked about it at first, but then realized we BOTH could sleep better apart. We BOTH snore! We can sleep through our OWN snoring but not each other's!! :D It doesn't mean we love each other any less, and we still "visit each other" from time to time....(wink wink) but we sleep so much better apart. Even in our camper we sleep apart. He has the bed, I sleep on the couch. The only time we sleep together is when we travel, if we have a king size bed. I take my sound machine and that helps some, but I still hear him some too. It's best when we get a suite and have a separate living area (where I sleep) and a separate bedroom for him. You might want to give separate bedrooms a try, and see if it works for you.

DopeyRN, I think we have the same husband- he snores no matter how he's sleeping, won't go to the doctor, and the "weight issue" is not mentioned in our house:rolleyes: . A few days ago I got up in the morning and noticed my antique tray tables were missing from the dining room. I looked all over the house-no tray tables. DH comes into the kitchen and I ask him if he knows where they are. His response-there was a cricket in between the tables that was keeping him awake:rolleyes: , so he put the tables outside on the deck-our dining room is 3 rooms away from our bedroom ,and the noise of one cricket was "keeping him awake", but his snoring every night is "not a problem"

I wear earplugs, in fact I am addicted to them:D ! I also am addicted to my nightguard. I CANNOT sleep without my earplugs and nightguard. My dentist had to adjust mine several times so there was no pressure on any teeth and it is SO comfortable. They need to adjust it if it feels bad!:D

I moved OUT of the Bedroom about 5 years ago.....have had a good nights sleep ever since!:o I had 10 years of NO sleep, and when he would keep me up all night snoring, he would wake me up at 6:00 turning on ALL the lites and TV to get ready for work!  That did it for me, now I sleep with the cats in one room, and he sleeps with the Dog!:o

DH snores no matter what position he is sleeping in. We have a two story house, and sometimes when he is in bed and I am watching TV downstairs, I can still hear him.

Our solution? We have the "snoring room". In other words, he sleeps in one of the spare bedrooms during the week (since we get up at 4:40 a.m.), and he sleeps with me on weekends when I don't care if I sleep or not (but if he is really bugging me, I get up and sleep in the "snoring room".

Same goes for my two sister-in-laws.

My DH loves to snuggle with me in the middle of the night, except when he snores its right in my EAR!!!!!!!! Then when I elbow and push him away from me, he gets all mad that I dont like to snuggle. But it sounds like a lawn mower on my head!!!

Thanks for all the replies...it's nice to know I'm not alone! Since there's no spare bedroom, it looks like I have to learn to live with it...how, I don't know! I'm afraid that if I wear earplugs I won't hear the alarm. I tried sleeping at the foot of the bed last night, but I got woken up with a kick in the head! He's working on this job until the end of November...at least I'll get a good night's sleep Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday!

My wife loves the elbow to the ribs method of stopping my snoring. It works very well.

Have you tried the strips you put on the nose? Don't know if they help or not but it is worth a try.

Have your husband evaluated for sleep apnea.

My husband snored loudly too. Now, he is being treated for sleep apnea by using a "continuous postive air pressure" machine. He has to wear a mask at night, and he hasn't snored since.

The strips do help somewhat, along with the ear plugs, if you have a loud alarm.

Goodluck Sharon. :)
