I remember traveling from NY to FL for spring break and stopping at the WDW Visitor's Center which told about WDW's future opening. We couldn't believe it! Disney on our side of the country! We made a family trip to WDW in August of 1972. Oh, it was a much anticipated event! We were so excited, and we haven't stopped being excited about WDW visits since. Mom's gone now, and my baby brother has also passed away. Dad has Alzheimer's. Traveling to WDW holds so many family memories for me. We now take our own children and build new memories every time we go. Of course there are other places in the real world to visit. But, trips to The World are the most special because of the memories there. For me, it's like having a family vacation home that the family travels to. I don't have to explain our love for WDW to friends who don't understand. They just see the smile on my face, and realize I am a part of something that makes me very happy.
