Question for Pending People

My DD got a pending letter but she's not on DISboards. I'm the one that's constantly checking this board, LOL. Anyway, for those of you that are also pending, do you have work experience? She's a freshman with no work experience, except Dog Walking and volunteer work, so I'm thinking that's the reason for the pending. I was just curious if most people think that might be the reason?

I got a pending letter and I've been working for 6+ years at the same restaurant and in the interview I said I've done everything from bussing tables to cooking to waitressing to managerial stuff (which I have...) as well as volunteering at a horse farm and "volunteering" at the working funeral home at my school. So, I have a lot of work experience, so I don't think it's your daughter's lack of it that got her the pending. It seems like people who chose more selective roles are getting pending letters so that Disney can evaluate who applied and place people in the roles...I applied for BBB, Hospitality, Concierge and Vacation Planner, and those were the only roles I picked and apparently they are all pretty selective, so I think that's why I got the pending letter. I'm hoping I get in, and good luck to your daughter too!

former cast members with no or restricted rehires are pended so they can do paperwork. people who say on their app or in their interview that they have a conviction are pended to do the background check. they will also pend people who may have done ok in their interview, but not steller. and they will also pend people who are only interested in the positions that have only a handful of openings.

Hmmm, so, not work experience, not former CM, no convictions, applied for lots of positions...that leaves the interview. That makes sense. Thanks for your input - we'll just keep hoping! :)

I got the amazing pending email today!!! BLAH! I also have a non favorable rehire, so that's why. Here's to December 1st.. I guess :sad2:

I just received my pending letter. Has anyone been rejected after the pending letter? I've read that a few ppl were accepted a few days after the letter.

You may not see this because it isn't something a lot of people like to share openly.

If a no or restricted rehire isn't lifted, they would be rejected. If someone's background check comes back and it has stuff on it that would make disney uneasy about having that person working, then they would be rejected too.

as for the other scenarios, probably not this early (they are still interviewing until November). but if you look at some of the older messages from april or may of this year, you will see that there were pending people who did share that they were not offered. i think that most of them were not background check people or rehire people but people who were just wait listed.

I don't know why I was waitlisted. I chose 13 roles! All 13 couldn't have been filled already. I hope they're just figuring out where to put me because it can't be any other reason. It's not like I don't have any experience. If they didn't like me I would've automatically been rejected. I will seriously feel ill if I'm rejected after choosing 13 roles. It'll be like that time when I was rejected from all 6 or 8 sorority rushes at my college. :sad1:

Disney is NOTHING like stereotypically mean sorority girls! (No offense to anyone here who is in a sorority and is nice :cutie:)

Don't you give up!

"Don't let your heart be filled with sorrow...for all you know tomorrow...the dream that you wish will come true..."

I've seen where people who were accepted ended up turning it down because a friend didn't make it or they didn't like their role, or whatever, so I'm thinking that they hold onto the pending people to fill those spots that weren't taken. Does that make sense to anyone? In that case, I think it'll be closer to November/December to find out.

I got a pending letter and was accepted already. For anyone interested my time line was:

Interview: 8/24
Pending letter dated: 9/1
Pending letter received: 9/5
Acceptance email: 9/16

Don't freak out about the pending letter, it could take till December to hear, but then again you could hear tomorrow...

Good Luck! :cheer2:

Thank you all for the comments. Elenadc, how many roles did you pick?

I think 10... My top three were Costuming, Hospitality, and Merch. I got Merch even though I would have preferred Costuming. Not that it matters as long as I'm in Disney World. :)

UPDATE:
My DD got accepted! She got the email Oct. 8. She got costuming, which was her top choice since her major is Fashion Design & Merchandising. :goodvibes I'm trying to get her to register for DisBoards so she can get to know some people before she arrives on Jan. 6.

I only interviewed one week ago (October 6th) and have not received anything yet. I know I'm most likely being overly anxious and excited because I want this internship so badly, but if I have not received a pending letter yet, do you think it means I will be rejected?

I feel as though I only did "okay" with my interview -- I was so nervous and anxious!

As does everyone, I just want to know now!! Do you think it would be beneficial to contact Disney about the status of my application, or is it too early?

Any help would be greatful :)

My daughter did the college program two years ago, extended, ended up going back to FL and school there and has worked now for Disney a year. She never joined the Disboards - it just isn't her -- but she did join read some facebook groups. She didn't know one person before she arrived and she had a great experience so I don't think its really necessary. She is even shy but on her first day she just started out meeting people (its hard not to) and I think she had plans from then on.

Glad she got accepted!

Way too early to try and call.
I am a campus rep at my school and we have been strictly told not to suggest calling unless you have had difficulty with applying or need to change something on your application. The operators are there to help students with technical difficulties/changes but they cannot tell you anything over the phone and they don't have any influence over your decision. So you just have to have patience and wait for your email/letter.
Sorry to be blunt...
