Question for new jersey people is it pork roll or taylor ham?

When i get the sandwich i call it taylor ham and cheese

I am not a native but have lived in New Jersey since 1984. I would say pork roll only because I've never heard of Taylor ham. Wawa sells a pork roll and cheese bagel melt. Not sure what kind of cheese but I'm gonna guess American which is my least favorite type of cheese. Too bland for me.

Is that a northern or central thing? I lived in the south all my life never had a pork roll. Well 42 out of my 46 years i lived in south jersey.

I was born and raised in NJ. For us, always has been, and always will be Taylor Ham!

Taylor ham - central Jersey. The Seaside Funtown pier had had a Taylor ham stand since the 60s. Don't know if it will be back when they rebuild the pier.

Taylor is the name of the company and pork roll is the name of the product. It's also called Taylor ham.

Taylor ham and egg with cheese on a Kaiser roll. Delicious!

Taylor is legally forbidden to call its pork roll "Taylor Ham." Consumers can call it that, some Jersey diners do list it as such on their menus, (but really shouldn't), but Taylor can't call it that. It's made from cheaper cuts of pork than ham.

Maybe I'll go to Shop Rite and buy some Case's pork roll. And while I'm at it, a half pound of deli sliced "ham and water product."

Yeah, I know. It's basically scraps mushed together. It skeeves me out.

Born and raised in North Jersey (Bergen County), Taylor Ham, cheese and egg ...baby. Moved to South Jersey, right outside Philly and ordered Taylor Ham, egg and cheese and received regular ham on the sandwich. Blech. The waitress never heard of Taylor Ham and heard ham. I learned that it is pork roll down here.
