My dd has a friend visiting Disney the week after we get home. She would like to leave a note for her friend to pick up the following week. Any ideas about where they can leave this note to one another. They will be visiting all the parks too so any ideas?
Thanks so much!

Is her friend staying at a WDW resort? If so, she can leave the note with the front desk at the resort. She just needs to put the name her friends reservation will be under and the date she will be checking in.

I don't really have any ideas for you, but that's a really cool thing to do! I'll be interested to see what others suggest!

I think this is a cool idea.... especially if you could find a spot in the parks that would remain untouched by others (including the thorough nightly cleaning crews) and not be a total litter-bug.

What about a note, enclosed in a zip-lock bag to keep it dry, and place it out of sight in a flower bed. Or perhaps hidden at the back of the stuffed character display at World of Disney?

I'm sure people will add more creative spots, but it's all I could come up with..... without blatent littering (well I guess the flower bed idea might be kinda littering)

Are you sending this other friend on a scavenger hunt for it, or are you telling her where it will be? That definitely would make a difference if you are hiding it...it would have to be somewhere that it won't be snatched up by some unknowing cast member cleaning up...if not than leave it at the hotel front desk and ask for it to be delivered upon her arrival, or better yet order flowers or a gift basket to be delivered to her room with the note tucked inside!

Scavenger hunt would be cool!! You should have your daughter make up a list of list of possible hiding spots, then create a scavenger hunt sheet, and have it delivered to her upon check in. A little mysterious game :wizard:

I think the flower bed idea is good. Or maybe on back of some shelf in the back of a store. Hmm.. Just trying to think... How about wedged under the seat of a certain ride or train and request to get that seat. Or possibly leave it at Guest Services. They may be able to hold it. Either way you do it, good luck and be creative! :cool1:

VERY COOL and FUN IDEA!!!

"Dodging" the ever persistent and wonderfully thorough CMs wll be the trick. Unfortunately, I am going to bet that some of the "natural hideaways" likely become home to some trash and other discards from our fellow parkgoers, ordinary trash, gum, other unimaginables, etc. So, beware, brave adventurer!

Some ideas:

In the line to Splash Mountain, as you enter the cave and go down the final ramp towards the ride, there is a sign on the wall on the left which reads "You can't run away from your troubles; ain't no place that far away"...likely enough space behind or to the side to slide in a note

Agree on a seat, last seat of last car, on the MK train and stick it to the bottom

In Exhibition Hall, in the back, there are a handful of cutouts for picture taking (where you stick your head into the cutoff to be the star). It is a lightly travelled area of MK. There are two on the upper stage, pick the one to the left with your back to the stage, hide the note at the base under the cutout leg)

In Belle's Grotto, which is on the right of the castle on the path towards the teacups, there is a small alcove in the wall on the ramp which wraps around and leads up to the stage. I believe there is are some nice small chinks in the wall which would fit a note and be missed by the CMs.

In front of the MK Indy Speedway, there is a formula one car that kids sit in for pictures. You can probably hide a note in the cab or in the struts for the wheels.

In the new Winnie the Pooh kids area across from the Winnie the Pooh ride, there are some nice holes and areas where you could put one, but I cannot be more specific unfortunately.

Switching parks, a very fun place to do what you are thinking about would be the Honey I Shrunk the Kids playground at MGM. The climbing areas and caves of the anthill are full of places where a note might have a chance of surviving a week. One of the best would be if you could figure a way to fix the note inside of the Dog's breathing nose (nostrils) at the top of the climbing area.

In EPCOT, at the end of the Maelstrom in Norway, they make you sit and wait while the theatre empties out, sometimes for 10 minutes or more. There is a white bench there, under a window. Easy to hide a note under the white bench, or perhaps on the windowsill....

In Morrocco, there is a fountain in the back area, where you can probably hide a note (maybe in the fountain if weighted down) or at the base...

This is actually pretty fun...I'll keep thinking and try to come back with more/better options tomorrow...

I would put the childs name on it and the DATE she will be there, and maybe if a CM found it, they would leave it there for the other to find. ;) Good luck, let us know how it goes!

I don't know that I'd place it on a ride (1st car, last car) because if they take that car out of service that day, she'll never find it..I'd go for the more stationary items like a bench, windowsill.....

I think the back of a shelf is a FABULOUS idea. Maybe the bottom of a barrel of those spinny light things at Mouse Gear in Epcot? I doubt they ever empty that out for anything. Make sure it's a permanent display and not something special.

I don't think I would put it on a ride, they might get mad about that.

Tell her DF to take a peice of paper and pen with her .

At each ride attraction there is always a sign ( att name, restrictions )

Then have her do a code

SM 3rd line 4th letter ....... B
SpM 5th line 3rd letter ... . E
BTMR 1st line 2nd letter ... S
PP 9th line 1 st letter........T

And so forth This will give DD a neat thing to do while waiting and her DF something to look forward to.

This will not be lost or misplaced and will not effect Disney's apperance (litter ,damage).

ok...I hear you all on litter and rides, but it's fun to think about, so I'm staying the course...

Best idea I came up with today was the wait line for Kali River Rapids in Animal Kingdom. The line snakes through a host of Asian structures with a variety of decor. In the last room before you exit towarsd the last stage, where you cross the bridge to board, there is a desk in the last room, on the left as you walk out. It is wide open to the line, and it would be SOOOOO easy to just place a small note on the back corner.

In EPCOT, in Canada Pavilion as you wait for the show, there are a few wooden box benches to sit on. Place a note behind the first bench on the left as you enter the waiting area.

In Tower of Terror in MGM, the set up for the ride includes a room where a Rod Serling look alike introduces riders to the story. Below the TV used for the display is a shelf...place the note on the bottom...

In MK, on Robinson Crusoes Tree, there is a room at the top which is Crusoe's study. All the rooms are netted off from us, but you could place a note at the bottom of the netting by the door pretty effectively so as not to be noticed...

...well, this could go on forever! Tom Sawyers Island has a handful of great places, as does Innoventions and the nooks and crannies in some of the lands (France, UK, Japan in particular).

Hope you get the fun you are looking for without any unnecessary litter, damage or distraction to the parks or your fellow visitors (there, that was for balance...)

Cheers!

There are two rooms, aren't there?

Just FYI, this is pretty cool and CAN be done IN the parks!

My brother in law, who's a NUT! (in a good way) (we both are photo nuts) left his tripod hidden in the bushes beside of Spaceship Earth (as you enter the park, just as you get past the bathrooms beside of SE, the bushes going up the small hill on the right. He put it about 15 feet back in the bushes. He didnt care if he lost it.

6 days later I got there and what do you know.........the tripod was still there and I got it. I am suprised because I know they do lawn work but, it was not even moved (at least it seemed) from where my bro-in law left it.

The only trick would be where to leave the note as Disney is famous for the nightly cleaning. Leaving it at the hotel, while not as fun, is certainly the safest option. Any others could easily get picked up and thrown out.

Honestly, I think it CAN be done. I think it's a great idea and quite frankly I think this would be something fun for Dis'ers to try out with one another.

Dis'ers could leave things for one another and sort of have a treasure hunt on the forums.

A photo could be taken to prove it's there and a thread could be done to give clues on it.

While I know Disney cleans nightly, there are areas they do miss and I dont think it's as detailed of a cleaning anymore as it used to be.

There's been many times I've been there for a week and see something that could have been removed still there. Obviously the open paths are cleaned but IM thinking more of areas such as bushes and areas sort of "off the beaten path".

We did this one time. My brother's friend was coming a couple weeks after us and he left note tucked behind one of the lights on the path in the que of Pirates of the Caribbean. It wasn't there. You better pick someplace that they won't clean!!! I would imagine if you keep your eyes peeled you will find some nook or cranny.

There is a well in front of Pirates of the Caribbean with flowers in it. I planned a "Gifts of a Lifetime" surprise for my brother and family and the "pixie" hid little bags of pixie dust in there. Of course that time it was only about a 1/2 hour after she did it.
