Question for married women whose spouse works...

SAHM checking in here, once the kids go to school full time i will go back to school full time too, get a different degree of sorts we'll see. I want to be totally flexible. Sometimes i wish i did have a job, you know those crazy pull your hair out insane and DH works late kinda days!!!

I have been working full time outside the home for 35 years. We have one son in college. My husband works from home and did so while our son was growing up. It worked great for us. DH was home when our son came home from school, took him to appointments, school functions, etc.

Perfect arrangement.

I work outside the house. I'm a teacher and stay home with my kids during the summer.

I stay home.

I don't have the energy it would take to run a family and give to a job. I can't imagine coming home at 6-7, cooking, doing dishes, helping with homework, bathing kids and putting them to bed every evening and then to do it again the next day.

Not to mention all the chores that would stack up on the weekend.

I'm lazy and need lots of 'me' time. I don't know where that would fit in!

Besides, half what I made would be taken up in taxes and the other half in childcare expenses.

I work outside of the home full time. I wouldn't have it any other way. I could never be a SAHM...just not for me. I love my job and worked hard to get to where I am. It would take a lot for me to give that up to stay at home. Plus, I make a lot more $$ than DH so if anyone would stay home, it would be DH.
