To those of you who had your reception at LS - How was the food? Which menu items did you like the best, and which would you omit if you had to do it over? The recent review of the Coral Reef posted here at the Dis has my DD nervous. We want to schedule a tasting for her planning session in Oct, but would like your input so we have an idea of which items to try.

Hi SyrCinderella! I am also interested in knowing this. I think I also read a review of Coral Reef (on the restaurants forum) that had me shocked!

I hope you don't mind, but I have a related question. Maybe you know the answer. The Epcot menus I have are for buffets, not sure if yours are different (mine are not brand-new). Is there a lower price per person for kids? I will have a lot of kids. I know at other venues they offer kids' meals, but I guess that is with a plated dinner not buffet.

I BELIEVE that meals there are handled through Epcot Catering, not the Coral Reef, but I'm not sure on that so someone else will have to answer to that. Personally, I'm hoping for the Living Seas for my reception and I'm planning on a buffet.

The main reason I'm posting is to say that every time I've eaten at the Coral Reef (which has been quite a few times) the food has been amazing. I know some people have had less than great experiences there, but I've always enjoyed it. :) I LOVE shrimp, and I swear I had the biggest shrimp I'd ever seen there one time. They were perfectly cooked and very tasty.

Ladies - the food was to die for! I just had my reception there and yes the food is handled by epcot catering and not Coral Reef. Teh food was exactly how we had tasted it in planning and some of it even better.

LuvnDisney - Thanks for your reply! Its great to hear you were very pleased, that is most reassuring. We were not sure if Epcot Catering was really a different kitchen, or just what they called the catering division. What were your favorite items so we will be sure to try them?

I know this is slightly off topic but for some reason this thread made me think of it and it may give someone else ideas if it's possible. We're hoping to make a special request for our buffet, though I'm not sure they'll be able to accomodate it. We want a dish from Boma at the Animal Kingdom Lodge, which shouldn't be hard, but we also want one from the Blue Bayou in Disneyland. We're hoping that they'll just be able to call them up and get the recipe or something. Those are both special to us, we ate at Boma the night we were engaged, then on our one year engagement anniversary, I proposed to him at the Blue Bayou. We thought it'd be nice to have a representative dish from each one. :lovestruc
