I just got Kelly's book and have been reading it. I do have a question about the children's play areas, particularly the water areas-What age children do you think will like the water areas. My son will be 10 when we go, and I am wondering if these will appeal to him and we should pack towels and extra clothes or if these water/play areas are geared more toward toddlers/preschool? Thanks, and I like your book!

Yes most diffenately he will like it. I always see kids anywhere from 5 yo up to about 14 and then you also see the groups of teens and adults in there. Plan on spending at least an hour in the play areas.

My oldest son was almost 11yo when we went to Universal and he LOVED the water areas. We had a towel with us, but I had the kids wear fast drying type shorts or swim trunks and sandles that could get wet.

At IOA, Camp Jurassic also has a few water cannons up on a "ledge", then more down below so you can blast at each other. My son, 11, was standing in the upper area with some other kids he didn't know and they were bumming because there was no one down below to shoot at. So my dh sacrificed himself so they could have a target, lol!

In Universal, ds spent alot of time in the dry ball area behind Curious George. He really doesn't like getting wet so he played in there while dd, 7 had a blast getting soaked in CG.

It's nice there's a bathroom to change in by the Barney area.

I really can't add much to the above, except to say "Ditto, ditto, ditto, ditto."

The Curious George area definitely will require towels and a change of dry clothes -- ESPECIALLY if it's cool!

Thanks everyone. I will say, I know he loves the water rides and he really doesn't care if it's freezing out, so I know the weather won't affect him. I'll just bring a towel and some clothes!

One more thing, if you go into the a/c with wet hair it gets very chilly!
