Is it worth paying an extra $10/pp for the "even more space/even more speed expedited security" upgrade? This is our first time flying on Jet Blue and I'm just trying to figure out what this feature really means. Is there a separate security line if you have this? Would love to hear from folks who've done it before I decide if it's really worth it.

TIA...

Are you sure that $10 includes an extra leg room seat? You usually pay an addtl $10 for speedier security checkin. Then, it's an addtl charge if you want the extra leg room seats. If you get the extra leg room seat, you automatically get the quicker security line.
My dh is 6'4''. He just flew from Boston to San Diego in a regular seat on JB. It would have been an addtl $95 to get the extra leg room seat for him! He said it was fine in the regular seat!!

Some people really don't mind paying extra for more leg room. If I can get it for $35 or less, I get it. But....lately I haven't seen it that cheap.

As far as the quicker security line goes.....as I said, we just flew to San Diego from Boston....two weeks ago. Those with 'expedited security' go to the PreCheck line. Shoes remain on, laptops stay in your bag and your 3-1-1 Baggie stays in your carry on bag. But.....dh got PreCheck at Logan, I didn't. He just got lucky when doing online checkin....didn't pay more or do anything to get it. I went thru the regular line. I was done and waiting for him....he hadn't even gone thru the scanner yet. So, sometimes it takes longer to do PreCheck! But, it's nice to not have to take stuff off and leave stuff in your bag.

Last week we paid $40 each on each leg of our trip for the extra leg-room seats, which includes early boarding and using the expedited TSA pre-cvheck line. It allowed us to bypass the long security lines, and to board when the overhead bins were not jammed full! It IS getting expensive, though. :(

It was $10/pp for even more speed or $40/pp for even more space which included the quicker security. DH doesn't think it's worth the extra but each of us are bringing just carry ons for this trip and it would be nice not stressing about space in the overhead bins...ugh, what to do, what to do!

If you're just doing carry on, it might be a good idea to do it. Depends on where you sit. I usually sit towards the back, so overhead storage isn't a big deal. The further front you go, the less availability there is. So....either book a regular seat towards the back, or pay extra and get to board early.

the last time I was on a jetblue flight, the guy in the middle next to me was so tall that he basically had to fold up like a jacob's ladder to fit in his seat (and jetblue tends to be pretty roomy anyway, so he was excessively tall). he probably should have sprung for the leg room.

I wouldn't do extra leg room just for luggage purposes--I'd just get a seat near the back of the plane so you board first. but if you or your hubs is tall like my seatmate, it'd be worth it probably.

I hate to fly so getting the extra leg-room, early boarding takes a bit of the stress out. We bring carry-on only so don't have to stress about overhead.

That being said, the price is getting up there. The last time we paid $80 each person each direction. We are hoping to travel more now that we are empty nesters so the price might not be so doable, especially on a short flight.

We always do it. My husband is tall and with two little kids being able to board first and get off quicker is a plus. In Newark you go through shorter security line, but then you still have to wait in the same baggage check line with everyone else. You don't get to leave your shoes on or anything special.

Here's the problem... Orlando doesn't have the more speed line. You would think they would, but nope!

Have fun! We DO love Jet Blue!

Orlando does, they just won't let people with kids on it. DH got into an argument with the tsa agent about it. They assume all kids will slow down the line so they just don't let them on.
