Had yet another toilet malfunction over the weekend...dd's toilet didn't stop running, floor again got saturated. But...this is that crappy glued down industrial type rug/carpeting. So....I need to get it up before it starts to mold!! Then redo her floor. It is a tiny bathroom.
But...does anyone know the best way to get this crappy stuff up? Looks like a ton of hard work and sweat involved. So, I'm looking for any hints from those who have already gone through this.
Thanks a ton for any help or hints.

I'm sure you'll get better answers from pro's that do this for a living, but when we redid the floor in my parents' kitchen and bath, there was no substitution for sweat and muscle. They had wall-to-wall short nap carpeting glued directly to the subfloor. (Apparently that was all the rage in the late 60's. :rotfl: ) All we could do was pull it up and then use a floor scraper (a big, wide metal blade on a long stick) and scrape off the leftover glue and padding. Wasn't overly difficult, just time consuming.

I second what the previous poster said. A floor scraper (about $30 or so from Home Depot) and some time, sweat, and muscle to scrape it up. I'd also have rubber gloves, a shovel, and a large garbage can to dispose of it, and maybe some goggles and a face mask for yourself.

Besides mold, you want to get it up before the subfloor starts to be affected to the point where it needs to be repaired.

Thanks...pretty what I thought the answers would be. I did manage to get most of the water up...used every one of my extensive towel collection though!! The floor is still 'damp' so have the heat cranked in there...this room is only about 3'x4', not including the shower stall. Room for the toilet, small vanity/sink and that's it.
So...looks like I know what we'll be doing for the next week or so...then we'll let the sub-flooring dry completely and decide where to go from there. May just redo the floor and the shower stall in any case.
