I am thinking of selling one of my contracts. The one I may sell has no available points and the '08 ones have been borrowed out. I have plenty of points in my larger contract. Can I transfer points from my large contract to the one I may sell just to make it more competitve on the resale market ????

NO, because once you sell it, those points will not be yours, so your other points are of no good on that contract.

I don't see why you couldn't transfer points to that contract before you sell it, assuming the contracts are under different memberships. AFAIK, MS will not transfer points between a Master and its add on, though. I agree that the "infusion" would make that stripped contract easier to sell.

The transferred points should retain their original home resort and use year, so of course that would need to be disclosed.

Do you have current reservations that used up your points? Could you do a point reallocation and use points from your larger contract for the reservation and put points back into the contract you want to sell?

The basic answer is YES, or NO, depending:

If your two contracts are under different membership numbers, then yes, you can transfer from one to the other and after transferred become 'owned' by the contract they were transferred into.

If you really have a single membership number, and you're talking about Add-On contracts, then the answer is NO. They're already the same contract so there's no transferring that can take place. It's a single contract which has different 'home resorts' and each 'home resort' has it's own allocated points.

If you have only one membership number (blue card) and your contracts are the same use year month, then you have an Add-on contract and you cannot transfer points.

If you hae two membership numbers (blue cards) and your contracts are different use year months, then they are totally separated (not Add-Ons) and you CAN transfer points.

As noted, there are some variations. If they are under one master contract you'd have to do the transfer after the closing, otherwise you could. You'd likely be better off just waiting a year then selling. You could list it now and adjust your price upward later if it doesn't sell and the points are more available.

Wow you guys are great. The contract I am considering selling is SSR that I bought through DVC. The larger one is OKW, just recently purchased through TTS. They do, however have the same UY.

Your idea was suggested to me by Tom Yeary at the TSS when I asked about selling a contract (which I ultimately kept). I would just be very clear with whoever you list it with that the 2008 points will be OKW points with the same UY and that they will be subject to the usual banking and borrowing rules. Transferred points can be banked but not borrowed I was told in another thread. It would definitely be more saleable especially if there was someone out there who might like the OKW advantage for a GV at 11 months during the time the points would be valid.
Am now condsidering listing that contract again due to the possible elimination of husband's job and am now fortunate that the points will be there as of 8/08 and since we are closer to that date it should be more marketable.
