Are 25ft extension cords long enough? I just noticed our cords are all 25 ft. and you had mentioned getting 40ft cords. Do I need to go out and get some 40fters or will the 25's be okay?

They probably will be OK, but in the partial hookup sites, the electric tends to be at the front of the sand pad (near where the driveway meets) and if you set your stuff up at the back of the site, you'll want as much length as you can get. The sites tend to be 15 - 20 feet wide by 25 - 35 feet deep, so you need some extra to go from the pole to the ground and comfortably go through a door in your tent.

The first year I tent camped, I think I had 15 ft cords and they were "waaaaay" to short, so the next year I bought 40ft cords and I have been able to comfortably set up whatever electrical I needed.

Depending on how many electrical appliances like a coffee pot and grills/skillets you will use make sure you have enough rating on the cord. The longer the cord in the same size wire carries a lower amperage rating and getting a high amperage rating in a long cord really drives up the cost. Also remember you should have at least two 15 AMP outlets.

BTW, I've never seen 40' cords, only 25, 50 and 100.

If you are unsure what to get holler back on what you will be using these for and I'm sure you will get the help you need. No need to buy a $75 industrial cord where a $25 homeowner cord would work just fine.

Thanks! We won't be using it much at all. We'll use it to charge phones, to power an alarm clock, charge ipods, run our Christmas lights, and use a hot pot each morning. That's about it. I may use a hair straightener on it if i need to watch the kids and have perfect hair at the same time.

Unless it's a huge hot pot that draws more than about 1000 Watts almost any of the 50' 12 to 15 AMP rated cords would serve you fine. With two and at least some multi plug adapters or power strip for the other stuff less the hot pot you should be good to go. Use one for the hot pot and the other for everything else. You might get by with even one, but I didn't check, but you should be able to get a 50' 15A cord for under $25. You mentioned X-mas light and if there are close to where you will be powering other items that's fine, but don't forget possible need for shorter extension cords, non grounded are fine for the lights. It sounds like you need to run one into the tent for all the indoor stuff and one outside for the Hot Pot and Xmas lights.
