OK - what is the craziest thing you have lost or misplaced?:cool1:

WHO took my recipe box? And where did you put it?:confused3

I'm off to look for my recipe box and then I'll be back to read the answers after I get the banana bread in the oven!

ok - I found it.
The breads in the oven.

So what is the craziest thing you've lost of misplaced and did you ever find it?

I haven't lost anything odd - but once we moved to our new house I never found my Longaberger paprika large pitcher. There's no way I just left it on the hutch shelf - the house was empty when we left - but it was never unpacked here. Everything's been unpacked (we've been here 4 1/2 years) - so my guess is that someone broke it during the move & just doesn't want to fess up! We did our own moving so I highly doubt it was stolen somewhere along the way (although my MIL really coveted that pitcher.....)...but to this day it's just missing. :confused3

Oh we did lose our cat during the move - does that count as odd? We lived in a hotel for 4 weeks - had to close on the old house before the new one was finished. We had been bringing the cat to the new house site to get familiar with it, but the day we moved into the hotel we dropped her off here & hoped for the best (no pets at the hotel & no friends or family willing to take her in). She just up & disappeared - we came to the house 2-3 times a day for 4 weeks calling her, leaving food, etc. The food was always gone, but we didn't know if it was her or another animal eating it. There were workers here every day that knew to look out for her, and none of them saw her. The night before we were officially moving in, we were locking up & getting ready to head out in the dark - doesn't that darn cat come up purring & rubbing on my leg like she had never been missing! I was so happy & so mad at the same time!

I'm not sure about unusual but I did lose two digital cameras one after another, ouch! :headache: One I left in a rental vehicule in the glove compartment, it mysteriously vanished when the car was returned. Camera #2 literally disappeared into thin air, it was in my bag one night, I checked on it several times, didn't even use it and then the next morning, no where to be found! Crazy crazy!

So happy your cat came back!!:flower3:

I lose my glasses a lot around the house. I can see for about ten feet before anything gets blury, so sometimes I forget that I'm not wearing them, or I forget that I am wearing them, and look around for them before I remember they're on my face.

one time I looked for hours for my sunglasses and then my DH asked -- are the glasses youre looking for the ones on top of your head? and yep - sure enough they were. So embarassed!!

Im not sure that it's crazy, but I've lost horses! I used to breed and raise miniature horses. One morning, one of them decided that the grass in the neighbor's pasture was greener and took the whole herd with her. They all disappeared for a few hours until I figured out where they had gone.

Well, I shouldn't be admitting this one in such a public place, but here it goes.......
my newborn!
Well, not for long and technically not lost either....but the "Kelly forgetting the baby story" is told over and over in my family so here it goes:
When my 3rd child was about 2 weeks old, I needed to finally get out of the house so I was really excited to take the 2 older children to the toy store to get new bikes with my hubby. This was our first family of 5 trip out! Well, the kids got into riding the bikes and deciding which one and I was having so much fun being out when my husband and I hear a baby crying from a couple rows away. I am about to say "I wish that baby would stop crying" when I realize that it is MY baby. Oh did I feel like the worst mother ever!!! Needless to say we ran to the baby and I held her in my arms for the rest of the time in the store.

My mother lost (well we think it was probably stolen) her portable phone. She would bring it outside during the summer and enjoy the day. We took her house apart looking for the darn phone. Never showed up. The person who took it, didn't have the cradle, so I am not sure if it could have even been used. Needless to say, Mom got a new portable phone for her birthday that year.:lmao:

My mom lost her wedding rings. She was working outside in the yard and took her rings off in the house before she went out. She forgot about them for a while and when she went back to get them she couldnt find them. She thought she had put them on a pile of towels in the laundry room. When she went back to get the rings she couldnt find them any where, she looked everywhere (the towels had been put away by this point). She thought that they must have fallen into the trash can when the towels where put away. Over the next couple of MONTHS she bought a new trash can and started the process with the insurence company so that she could replace the rings.

A couple months after the rings went missing she went to get some jewlery out of her jewlery box and there are her rings sitting in the box. She had put them away and forgot about it. She was so sure that she had taken them off in the laundry room, she never looked in the jewlery box.

I had my cell phone stolen from my house. We had a yard sale and it was with me in the morning and gone by the time we packed everything up...

It's not a crazy thing to lose, nor do I ever really lose it...but I seem to have a habit of taking the remote everywhere around the house without even realizing I'm doing it. We've discovered it in the bathroom, the freezer...you name it, it's probably been found there.

RIght now I cannot find my white zippered beach coverup. It has short sleeves, a hood, and a pocket and is perfect for the beach, our neighborhood pool or our upcoming cruise. It is nowhere to be found and of course Kohls doesnt carry that style anymore either.

I'm also missing my earbuds that DH got me for Christmas. He really searched to find some that are small since I cant stand the big ones in my ears. I've looked everywhere in my house and my office. No sign of them. :confused3

You're not alone! When my 2nd was born my 1st was in pre-school. I took him in & dropped him off (had the infant in the carrier with me.) When I got back to the house I went inside & went about my business for almost 15 min. before I realized OMG the newborn is still out in the car!!!

Oh this glasses thing is totally annoying. DH and I now need reading glasses. We each have about 3 pairs and they are laying all over the gosh darn house, except we can never seem to find them when we need them. A huge part of our daily conversation goes like this:

" Honey, have you seen my reading glasses?"(now mind you this really is stated not so much in the form of a question, but in the form of a rhetorical statement because we really know deep down inside what the answer will be)
"Uh, no, do you remember where you put them?"

It is ridiculous, and makes me feel like I am 80 (not that there is anything WRONG with being 80, mind you).

This thread makes me think about crazy things I have found. I recently came home from grocery shopping and "found" that I had a whole bag of fruit that didn't belong to me. :scared1:I had picked up someone else's groceries and walked off with them. Probably because I didn't have my glasses. :confused3See...it's all about the lost glasses, I tell you.

We lost a Christmas ornament. We were on a cruise at Christmas 2005 with part of Dh's family. One of his sister's had died that year from breast cancer. The older sister gave everyone a very pretty round ornament with the pink breast cancer ribbon on it. We haven't found it since. I have looked everywhere in the house, all of the closets, all of the bins we keep Christmas stuff in, everywhere. It's just gone. :sad1:

A pineapple corer thing-a-majiggy.

One of those that while you twist through the pineapple and it takes out the core and slices it. It's been gone for almost 2 years now. I bought it, brought it home and washed it and have NO idea where it went after that. Not something little that can just ... go missing. :rotfl:
