How often do you use your Advair inhaler, and if more than once a day, when do you do it?

I've just started on mine and have to use it twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening. I've been doing it as soon as I get up in the morning, then just before going to bed in the evening, but I'm finding that it does make my heart race just enough that it seems to be keeping me awake in the evening. I was wondering if others who use Advair in the evening do so at bedtime or some time before bedtime.

Thanks :)

My 8 yo uses it and I try to space it at 12 hours apart. So he uses it around 7:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. He hasn't ever complained about his heart racing, though.

i'm supposed to use my advair 500 (highest dosage) 2x a day, but had a few probs.
my heart races (that's listed with the "side effects"), but it was the "steroid induced brain fogs" that became a BIG prob.
i reduced it to 1x in the morn, but still take volmax & singular as prescribed.
so far, so good
:D

but talk to your doc ~ perhaps a lower mg will help.

My DH uses Advair and he uses it 2x/day. Once before he leaves for work (around 6:30) and once in the evening usually about 30 minutes before bed (around 9:00ish). He has never complained about a racing heart but maybe he is on a lower dose?

When I first started using it, it didn't make my heart race, but the evening dosage kept me up. Now I use it at 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., with no problems.

My future DH takes it twice a day - in the morning and before bed. I remember that he had a few problems initially, but that didn't last very long. I'd ask your doctor, who might have some suggestions as to how to get rid of the racing.

Advair has been an absolute lifesaver for him. He hasn't had to use an inhaler in months, other than a couple times when he missed one of his Advair doses. And he hasn't needed his nebulizer (sp?) at all, amazing considering how often he had to before.

Well, it doesn't make my heart race too much, just enough to keep me up. And the Dr did warn that it might do that to begin with but unless it was bothering me, stick with it for a few weeks (or at least that's how I understood him). It's not bothering me any more than drinking caffiene does, but it's the same thing -- keeps me awake. I can already tell it's making a difference in daily problems, though.

I'll just try taking it earlier before bedtime because the side effects do wear off within 20 minutes, so taking it an hour before bed should make a difference.

Thanks! :)

Oh I love Advair! I started out 2x daily.... now down to once in the evening, usually right before bed. No heart racing here.

Make sure you rinse your mouth out afterward though!!

I'm down to once a day now, only at bedtime.

I never used to bother rinsing my mouth until I got this bizarre problem in my throat and roof of my mouth. They turned raw and actual chunks of flesh came off! Now I make sure I rinse my mouth VERY well.

I take it 2x a day, morning and night. I don't take it right before bed, but I don't have a problem with my heart racing. I used to get a fluttering affect with my combivent, but I haven't taken it in a long time.
The difference between my lung function tests before and after was amazing!
