i am going with my daughter to wdw on dec 27... she has to go home on the 31st but i'm staying until jan 8th... if she was not coming i would wait to buy ap's with the new discount on jan 2 but she wants to go to the parks...

this is my question..
i have 2 ap vouchers i bought a few years ago but never used... i also have 6 days left on a 7 day hopper. if i use either of those when we get there on the 27th. do you think on jan 2nd i will be able to upgrade my ap or 7 day hopper to a pap and get the 125 dollar discount...

just trying to save alittle money... we are both coming back for a week at easter and the week before christmas in 05 so ap's would be the way to go...

According to info posted here by other DISers, yes, we will be able to upgrade and take advantage of the DVC discount after 1/2/05. For many people this will be a free upgrade. However, since you've been holding your AP vouchers for a while, you should only receive the original value in credit toward the upgrade. Depending on the actual dollars involved, you may have to pay a few dollars for your upgrade.

The only caveat I'll add is that there may be a lot of confusion on 1/2 based upon the massive ticketing changes going into effect on that day. Crowds should be getting smaller, but it's still a tremendous change for all CMs to deal with.

Regarding the 7-Day PHP, if you upgrade it within 7 days of initial use, you should get full credit for the purchase price toward a PAP. If you wait until after 7 days has passed, you only get a pro-rated share of the original cost of the pass applied toward a different ticket. In other words, if you have 2 unused days out of the original 7, you would get two-sevenths of the original cost in credit toward another pass.

Finally, regarding your daughter's pass, she would only be eligible for the DVC discount if she actually lives in your household. If she does (sorry, not sure of the age involved), and if she'll be returning for one of your trips later in '05, she should be able to upgrade and receive the discount as well.

Hope that answers all of your questions.

If you need to use one or both of the vouchers to get an activated AP before 1/2/05, you might consider upgrading the "plain" AP to a PAP after 1/2/05. With the discoiunt, the upgrade will cost only a few dollars more and you will have access to the waterparks, PI and DQ for the remainder of your year.

Best wishes -
