Question ABTA and Flight only?

March is the first time we have booked flight only. I have booked Airtours flight through Lunn Poly Direct and final payment is due end of December (we have only paid a deposit of £50 each so far).

Does anyone know if flight only holidays are covered by ABTA or is it just package holidays. I have a vague recollection of this being mentioned before.

The reason I am asking is if I pay by debit card or cheque there are no surcharges but if I pay by credit card there is a 2% surcharge but if anything happens to My Travel before March I can claim off my credit card,(does this make sense).

I would prefer to pay by cheque with no surcharge if I am covered by ABTA.

I will ring Lunn Poly direct but I am never sure if the information is correct because the people on the end of the phone seem only interested in selling holidays.

there are 2 things ABTA and ATOL and I think ATOL covers flight only holidays - there is some info here
