question about whispering canyon

hi everyone - we (me, dh, ds5, ds7) have adr for dinner at whispering canyon 9/5 - should we ask for a particular section?
also, ds7 is highly allergic to nuts - does anyone recall if there are nuts of any kind on the tables (like at some steak houses)? things cooked in peanut oil are ok -
would this be a good place for 40th birthday dinner?
oh and how do we get there from the parks? is there one park that is closer/easier than others ? thanks for your time,

Pretty sure that there are no nuts on the table.

Definitely ask to be in the main dining room, since this is a place you go to for the experience and the atmosphere because the food is average at best. I think it would be a great place for a 40th birthday if you are located in the main dining area and have a good server - unfortunately for us we were located WAYYYYY in the back and could only hear what was going on, and we had a terrible server who hardly was even at our table.

We were at EPCOT before dinner so we just took the Wilderness Lodge bus over to the resort - the restaurant is right off the lobby. After dinner we took the boat to the MK and enjoyed EMH!! Good luck!

We have been there several times and think it is great, food and atmosphere. There is only one area so I don't know what the other poster was talking about "main" dining area. Be sure to tell your server who is having the birthday. The kids will love it too, they have stick pony races every hour for them. No matter where you are at in WDW just go to the bus station and get on a Wilderness Lodge bus NOT a Fort Wilderness campground bus. Although sometimes they do share a bus. If you are at the Magic Kingdom you can take a boat to the Lodge. Again, there are different boats for the lodge and the campground. Oh ya, no nuts on the tables. Have fun, you going to love it.
