question about waitlist and cash reservation

HI all!! If you are booking a dvc reservation on points and you have one day in the middle of the reservation that is not available and you waitlist the entire week, can you call member services and pay cash for the day that is unavailable (if the cash rate is an option) and then have the reservation all linked together? Sorry forthe run on sentence, but I know that your reservation is not complete while you have it waitlisted. I am wondering if the days that are availalble are "held" for you until if and when the day that you are waitlisted for becomes open. Does this make sense?? Thanks for any help.

Thank you for your response. Can you do this while still waitlisted is what I really wanted to know? The whole week is in waitlist because the one day was unavailable.

I'm wait listed for 1 night, and just called Member Services to see about doing a cash night. I was told that they would state it was a "continuing stay" but this was not the same as actually being linked. I was told because of this, it could be likely that we would have to change rooms. I don't want to change rooms, so decided against doing the cash stay right now, and am really praying that our WL comes thru.

As for them holding rooms, no they won't do that. If you have the points, I would book the nights that are available, then WL what isn't, and go ahead and do a cash night for that one night. If your WL comes thru, then you can go ahead and cancel your cash night.
