We did the intimate vow renewal, so we didn't have a traditional "reception". For all Wedding Pavilion intimates (approx $3,350 or $3,900 for 2007), weddings or renewals, the "cake-cutting" is held at Commander's Terrace at the Grand Floridian. Intimates are limited to 20 people, including the bride and groom. There is not seating for all 20 people at Commander's Terrace--my DH and I never sat at all. I have other pictures if you would like to see them, just let me know. We requested chocolate cake with peanut butter mousse filling and it was to die for!!!!
Our vow renewal was at 4:00, followed by the cake-cutting at Commander's Terrace. We then took our group of 13 to 1900 Park Fare for dinner after the cake cutting. Since we had 6 adults and 7 kids, we wanted a fun, not so formal dinner. We were still able to wear our wedding clothing but everything was a lot more casual than a sit-down, quiet restaurant kind of dinner.
Disney can do whatever your budget can accommodate. We went with the intimate at the WP (which is a little more expensive) because I was so afraid of a spring late afternoon thunderstorm! However, after I added all of the extras, we could probaby have had a custom renewal with only a small additional cost.
The MK photo shoot is available to all DFTW brides whether they are weddings or vow renewals. We did ours at 5am on May 2. At that time, the cost was $800 or $850. We got a portfolio/leather-fold-out of 12 pictures (picked by Disney) as well as a box of 4x5s of all of the other pictures that were taken. I haven't yet ordered any additional photos, but I think I am going to order one 5x7 or 8x10 just for me.
In addition, we had an outside photographer (Randy Chapman - approx $575), an outside videographer (STVS - approx $600) and we had Mickey & Minnie at our "cake cutting" (another $1,300).
Even though we spent the price of a cheap new car, I wouldn't change a thing! We originally honeymooned at Disney 11 years ago. For our 10th anniversary (2005) my DH was doing an 18 month deployment. He returned in February, 2006 and I had all of the Disney trip and vow renewal planned as our welcome home vacation! Truly a magical, once-in-a-lifetime experience!
