Hi! We are planning on taking our trip in Nov 2008. We intend on staying at the All Star Music (I think that is the correct name) and there is an offer for a premium room, but our reason for staying at the value is to stay longer and spend less on the room~ when we will spend most of our time at the parks. Is it worth it to get a premium room and really what does a premium entail compared to a regular room?
Thanks for any help!!

I think you are talking about preferred rooms, which means those buildings are closer to the food court and the bus stop. Now when we stayed last spring break we survived being in the Mighty Duck section at ASMo. With that said the youngest in our group was 7 and sometimes when we ran to the food court we would leave her in the room because of the walk, don't worry she wasn't by herself we were a group of 10 - 3 rooms. If you have small children you may want a preferred site or if you just want a shorter walk to the bus and food court. I can say it is quieter if that is what you are looking for. The next time we stay at ASMo we will get a preferred site because the closeness of the food court plus DD wants to stay in Toy Story, Dalmations, or Fantasia rather that Mighty Ducks or Herbie the love bug. Hope this helps! :)

Thanks for the help~ Yes you are right it is a preferred room that they were talking about. We do have a DD who will be 4 at trip time so it might be better to stay at a preferred site.
thanks again!

We stayed at ASSports and were way in the back and it was a long hike at the end of the day. In 2005 we satyed at ASMovies in the first room in Fantasia. My grandson was with me and he was 5. The kiddie pool and playground were real close as was the big pool and food courty. The walk to the buses was good. In Jan 2007 we stayed at POP which is much larger. We had 2 preferred rooms and they were close to the pool but still a walk to the buses. I speciified in my reservation that I had a bad knee and needed first floor.

We were at All Star Music in September and booked a preferred room. For the extra $75 a week... we found it to be SO worth it.

A preferred room at All Star Music puts you in building 1 or 10; the Calypso section. These buildings provide the quickest walk (less than a minute) to the main building and main pool. I understand your concern though, as we too spent the majority of our time at the parks.

At the end of the day, after walking on your feet for hours, waiting for the bus and the bus ride home, it was so nice to be only steps away from your room. After a long day of walking (and carrying/pushing a sleepy child) that convienent distance is worth it. I didn't even think of things like bad weather/storms/down pours... and being the closest building to the main building meant we weren't having to run through the rain!

We're big refillable mug fans and the proximity to the food court was huge for us. We could easily grab coffee and snacks in the morning while others were getting ready and it wasn't a timely ordeal.

Being so close to the main pool was great. It was nice to come back in the mid afternoon to kick back and swim. Being steps from the main pool/main building, we'd bring out mugs and towels and just relax. The main pool played music and pool games through out the day and it was nice being able to run up to the room if we needed something. All Star Music also plays pool side movies during the evening at the main pool.

To us it was worth it, cause while yes, we spent most of our time at the Parks, there is that time when we're at the resort and things like a preferred room do make things that much more convienent!

Hi,

"Preferred" refers, mainly to location and sometimes the view. The interior of the rooms are exactly the same.

Preferred rooms are located closer to the the food court, main pools, bus stops. While it is more convenient to be in a preferred location, some of these rooms can be noisy due to pool crowds and others walking past the room to get to their buildings.

We always choose to pay the extra for a preferred location and have never had a problem with noise but I know others who prefer the opposite.

Last time we stayed at ASMu we were in Rock Inn which is in the back. the walk was not that bad, but if I could do it again I'd pay the extra

Keep in mind that what you feel is a "preferred" room may not always be a preferred room under Disney's designation. In September we paid for a preferred room @ POP and what we got was in no way a preferred room according to our understanding. Not close, no view - away from elevator, etc. The room a couple down from us with a view was standard & they had a better location than we did for cheaper. :confused3 We are switching this time though to ASMu for a quieter & hopefully more enjoyable mini-vacation.
