Hi-
I am currently waiting on ROFR, and I have been reading the board and I am a little confused about some things! We are waiting on a Dec. use year-- I have read a few comments on Dec. use years- are they not desirable? is something wrong with having it that month? We will probably be going to Disney usually for the school February break, or April break. Maybe once every few years in Oct/Nov. Th rofr we are waiting for will have 150 pt available on Dec. 1, '04. then again on 12/1/05.
when I make a ressie, do I need the points available when I make it? or just when the date comes? (did that make sense?)
like, if I have no points available when I call, can I make a ressie for a date that my points will be available, or do I need them just to make the res??
Thanks!

December is no better or worse than any other Use Year...depending on your individual travel habits. December UY works best if you normally travel in the months of December to May. For trips June to November, if you have to cancel on short notice, you may be past your banking deadlines and be in danger of losing the points.

If you scheduled a trip in November, and then find out in September that you have to cancel, you may have problems. By September (the 10th month of your UY), you can only book 25% of your total points--or 38 points in your case. All of the other points must still be used by 11/30 or they are forfeit.

Regarding your booking question, you do NOT have to have the points available when you book. They simply must be in your account when the trip occurs.

The one execption is if you need to borrow points from the next UY for the trip. If a reservation will entail borrowing points (say, using your 2005 points for a 2004 ressie), the points are actually transferred to the different Use Year at the time of the billing.
