Question about Use Year and Reservations

I purchased my DVC membership in July of 2004. My use year is August. I banked all my points for 2005 with the hope of using them in February of 2006. I expect to combine the 2005 points with my 2006 points and then borrow all of my 2007 points for the same trip.

I'm coming up on my 11 month reservation window and I now wonder if DVC will allow me to book for next February without me having earned my points for 2006 or 2007. I guess at a minimum I can use my banked 2005 points for the first few days of the trip.

Am I crazy or is this an issue?

What happened to your 2004 points? If you purchased in 2004, didn't you bank your 2004 points into 2005? If that's the case, then you have double the points in your 2005 use year for your trip in 2006(Feb), and can borrow from 2006 back into 2005 to use for your trip. Remember that you don't get your points for 2006 until August of 2006, so you are still in your 2005 use year in Feb of 2006. So what's your question? When can you reserve a room?--in March 2005. You SHOULD have all those points available for your use in Feb 2006, if I understood you correctly.

If you are planning a DVC vacation in Feb 2006, you probably did not bank your August 2005 points yet, because you haven't gotten them yet. You'd have to have them first before you banked them. You probably banked your Aug 2004 points. You can combine your Aug 2004 banked points with your current year points, Aug 2005, and borrow from your Aug 2006 points to make a Feb 2006 reservation.

If you are making a reservation for Feb 2006, they will use the banked points and current year points (current at the time of the reservation, therefore Aug 2005) for your reservation. Plus if you need more than that, you should be able to borrow from Aug 2006 to make that reservation.

I think I got a year ahead of myself. I banked the points I got in August '04 so I could use them in Feb. of '06 along with my '05 to '06 points and borrowing my '06 to '07 points. Thanks.

Just remember that use year has nothing to do with when you can make a reservation. You can always make one at your home resort 11 months ahead of time and use the points that you will have available at the time of the trip.

You really don't "earn" your points on a certain date. They are already in your account for reservations within their use years or to be borrowed.

With an August use year and a February 2006 reservation, you can use banked 2004, current 2005, borrowed 2006 at the 11 month mark for your home resort.
