Question About TV Show NCIS....

I jusst began watching NCIS last year. It quickly became one of my favorite programs!

I was so upset when Kate got killed in the season finale. On Tuesday's episode Gibbs asked the Israeli girl if she knew about his wife and daughter, she said yes.

Now I know Gibbs has been divorced a number of times but I didn't know he had a daughter. I am assuming that his first wife and daughter were killed because of his job, am I correct?

Can anyone fill me in on the prior years of this show?

I love this show and try not to miss an episode, ever since it spun off from JAG.

Until last Tuesday, I never knew Gibbs had a daughter, nor that he was a widower.

It's only been mentioned that Gibbs has had more than one wife and ex-wives.

Okay, see I didn't know what I had missed from earlier episodes.

I am guessing that his first wife and daughter were killed as either hostages or something.....

I believe this is the first we have heard of the daughter. Part of the show has always been Gibbs being very vague to his staff (and the audience) about his past. Looks like this season is going to be about letting them "in" including the pieces that involve his prior relationship with the new boss.
