Question about the golf carts

I have a question about the golf carts. I don't really know a lot about WDW yet, we've only been one time so far (11/08). I loved the look of the cabins, but some of the reviews I read stated everything was so spread out that walking with children can be unfun.

What do you use the golf carts for? Before you laugh or roll your eyes at me. . . :) I mean could you drive them to the marina to catch the boat to MK & would it still be there when you get back? Or do you basically use it to get around to activities within FW? I guess my DH being a Tim-Taylor wanna be, a golf cart could sway him to try a cabin - you know? And what I've read about FW with the activities, it just seems so family fun oriented.

Thank you in advance to anyone that can share. :)

The Golf Carts are a great way to get around the Fort. Yes, you can park them at the Marina, take your key and your cart will be there when you get back. Thee is a special designated parking area along the beach next to the trading post and across from Crocket's Tavern and Hoop Dee Review.

If you elect not to rent a Golf Cart you can take the internal buses everywhere or rent bikes at the bike barn. If you choose to walk it really is not that bad of a walk. Not sure how far to the Marina if you walk but probably just under a mile. The outdoor movie and fire is half way so I would not let that stop me from staying at the Fort. You will like it no matter what you choose. The Golf cart just makes it that much more fun as you not only have transportation around the Fort, you can also go "Looping" which is ride through every loop and check out all the different rigs. :thumbsup2

There is an off site rental getting alot of good buzz for their price and service if you decide to rent a golf cart, I personally have not done this. Kenny 407-276-0809

I also have a Tim Taylor wanna be for a DH - so trust me I know what you mean about that! :-)

We have yet to actually get to the Fort- but I agreed to let DH get a cart of his own and it has taken on a life of its own- already it has to be bgger, faster, higher, cooler etc etc etc More Power and all that testosterone stuff... sorry guys but you know its true...:rotfl2:

From what I have head on here though- the Fort is a blast no matter what! Though I have to admist- DH let me book several trips wo even setting foot on property just cause he'll get to use his cart :lmao: Oh well- more Disney for me...

I'm sure he'll be along any minute now to put his 2 cents in - if he hasnt already......

Looping at the Fort is great if you have the money for the cart get it. We actually bring 2 carts to FW. One for me and the DW and one for my parents. I love moding my carts its a lot of fun.

Thanks everyone. I called Dh and asked if he wanted to stay where we did last year (WL), stay where we were currently booked (family suite at ASMusic) or in a cabin w/a golf cart. He got very excited about the golf cart. LOL

So, I called and changed our reservation. We are now booked in a cabin at FW! I'm very excited. When we went in November 2008 (our first trip) we tried to drive from WL to the BBQ and DH took a left too soon and it looked very appealing to us over there. The trees & nature, etc. So I'm excited.

I read on the FAQ that you can reserve the cart up to a year in advance. To you pay the whole thing with the reservation or just a deposit?

Well hello
Modifying it. Putting lift kits on them, bigger tires, building bumpers for it increasing the top speed. Fun stuff. Even built a trail behind the house by the creek to drive them through.
