We ran into some friends of ours over the Labor Day weekend who had been on a Disney Cruise last year. They couldn't say enough good things about the food at Palo's, going as far as to say it was one of the best meals they had had, anywhere! I'm one of those "foodies" who really gets into food, top restaurants, cuisines, etc. and I was just wondering...does everyone else agree that Palo ranks right up there with some of the best restaurants around?

Thanks!

Deb

Yes, I'd equate it with some of the best restaurants around. :)

2 brunches and 2 dinners.

Could have eaten there every night

Brunch and tea were fabulous, incredible, excellent!

Dinner was nice, but was not one of the top ten meals I've ever had.

Still, all in all it's well worth doing!

Definitely one of the best restaurants we've ever been to! The brunch was fabulous, and the dinners are fantastic!

Dinner and brunch were fantastic (although we thought the food at dinner was a little salty as compared to the other resturants on board - I couldn't drink enough water the rest of the night). That said, it ranks right up there with 5 star Manhattan resturants.
Don't miss it!!!!!!!

Hubby and I are definite "foodies" who have been to many of the exellent restaurants in downtown Chicago and the best WDW places like the California Grill, Citricos, etc. Palo definitely ranks right up there in the same category and quality! I think hubby would have eaten there every night if he could have...we did manage to make it there four times on our three-peat and it was excellent every night. I prefer Palo on the Wonder (there are slight differences), but overall both are excellent.

Absolutely one of the best restaurants I have ever eaten in. I can't wait to go again. I had very high expectations based on all the high marks it was given here on the boards and it surpassed them. :D :D

Wow...thanks everyone! Based on all the great marks (and then some) that you're all giving it, I'm now even more excited to go there (if that's even possible). And we just got back from going out to dinner so I'm speaking on a full tummy!

debbiebones..
we didn't eat at palo (since i wanted to eat with my kids every night), but i can give you this comparison...
i thought the food in tritons (on the wonder) was outstanding....(and since palo is supposed to be even better that's saying a lot)...
if you've ever eaten in the capital grill (at somerset mall) or joe muers, the sea bass i had at tritons was far superior (and i happen to think the capital grill and joe muers are excellent restaurants)...

in fact, the fish i had at tritons was the best fish i've ever had in my life.......my son's eyes rolled right into the back of his head when he took his first taste (in fact, he ordered it every night....the head waiter brought it to us from tritons, no matter where we were eating..)

That certainly does say a lot... I love Capital Grill at Somerset! The Muer restaurants are also great for seafood so if you're comparing the food to those....then it's gotta be pretty good!

Thanks so much for the info. My mouth is watering in anticipation!

Hi Debbiebones,

I saw your post and realized we are getting a lot closer (if memory serves you are on the Jan 25th Magic also). In about a month we will be in double digits. YEAH:jester: :jester: :jester: :jester:

I am keeping busy by working on a scrapbook of our Dec Land and Sea vacation. That has been a good distraction.

Hi PiperG,

Yep, it's getting closer than I realize somedays (like when I get busy with my 2 and 4 year old) and then something reminds me, "oh yeah, we're going on a Disney Cruise!"

We're getting very excited. I am surprised though, to not see more people from that cruise that week on this board.

Take care,

Deb

I am also suprised about the low profile this cruise has received. I wonder if its not booked as full as others due to the Superbowl taking place the next day. I hear the Wonder that leaves on Superbowl Sunday is not even close to capacity.

When does your 4-year old turn 5? Hayden is 5 1/2 now but plays all the time with a neighbor who is 4 1/2. It would be great to hook up the kids so they could have a buddy. We are staying at the MCO Hilton Garden Inn the night before. What are your plans?

We will likely spend days at the Mickey pool (not planning to much in terms of excrusions). Hayden liked to go to the club after dinner, although we are hoping to get him into the club a couple of times during the day so that we can attend the Art of Entertaining series or the wine tasting.

Yummy Yummy Yummy,

I had some steak with blue cheese sauce on it I think. And the Choclate souffle is to live for.

Deb,
i wasn't referring to the chuck muer restaurants...which i've never even eaten in...
i'm referring to joe muer's which i see you're possibly too young to know is a detroit institution...when i was young they were in the city and one of the few reasons any suburbanite went there(ventured into detroit that is)...
it was an amazing place......i'm not sure when they moved out to the suburbs but they're not what they were in the good old days....but still they're the place to go for fish...
chuck muers from what i rememeber was a son or nephew or relative of some kind of joe muers who went out and capitalized on joe's very famous name...
a bit of detroit folklore...
