Question about the "day by day" reservation process...

OK, here is my situation. I would like to make a reservation for December 14-21, 2008. I can only reserve at the 7 month window because they are developers points. My preference is AKV, but I will be happy anywhere. I just really want to go. So say I start calling day by day, what happens if one of the days isn't available, so you have a gap in your reservation? What happens then?

You would have to waitlist for the sold out dates. Before starting the day by day, I would call and ask what availability for the entire time looks like. If they say there are days already soldout, I would look for an alternate reservation and waitlist the entire stay. That way you don't risk gaps.

I think you should call MS and ask your question. It is not an easy one to answer because you plan to use developers' points.

My understanding is that reservation made with developer's points are manual transactions (and go to a small special group of CMs who work "in the back office"). We've been told that you cannot waitlist with developer's points. There could be a problem using the day by day process with developer's points as well (but I don't think so).

Anyway, my advice is to call MS during a not so busy time / day of the day in February (January is really busy because so many are using their 11 month windows to book December 2008 vacations). With any luck you will get a helpful and knowledable CM who can answer your questions.
