Question about switching resort reservations at 7 months

Hi,
I was wondering , if i were to rent points for a DVC resort now at 11 months out, would it be possible to switch at 7 months to the DVC that we really want? You see we want BWV and i can't find anyone who has enough points to rent from , so i thought i'd ask if we booked at another is it possible to switch if there is availability at that time.

That's between you and the person you rent from. If they are willing to call again at 7 mos and try to switch the reservation, functionally it is possible.

One complication is the fact that most of the resorts have different point charts. If you book SSR now and try to switch to BWV later, the BWV room is likely to cost more points. The renter would have to be willing to hold the additional points for 4 months and accommodate your switch. If the BWV room costs fewer points than your 11 month reservation, the renter would have to be willing to take back some of the points.

You can ask, but I suspect you'll find that some renters aren't willing to deal with the additional hassle.

Most people renting points will require a non-refundable deposit after the initial reservation is made.

So you need to also ask yourself if you would cancel the trip if you weren't able to switch at the 7 month mark? If so, you would probably be out a significant amount of money.

As tjkraz indicated, it is up to the DVC Owner as to what they are willing to do. The important thing is to get everything spelled out up front to avoid misplaced expectations.
