Question about stuffed toys at Disney

My kids are wanting to have a stuffed Mickey and Minnie Mouse for our trip...and I saw them in the Disney Store, however, I thought they would mean a lot more if they actually got them AT the park. Is there a huge difference in how much they cost at the actualy park vs what they are in the store?
Silly question, I know..but just curious...
Thanks! :)

We just got back and my DD bought a stuffed Nemo for only $12--which we though was a bargain.
Some of the figures have special WDW tags and/or costumes, so I'd wait and see what you can find there, rather than just pick up one from a DS.
All in all, the prices are similar; the selection however will be huge at WDW. When our kids were little, they got to buy one right away and then carry it around. It sure saves on them wanting to buy something at every store they see. Just carrying it around gives them something to hold and eventually, they see the point.

Thanks for your reply..I agree with you!! I didn't want to get it here, I just didn't want to pay 2X as much there!! :) Where do they sell everything? Is there a "special" place to get the cutest ones? I would just want the basic Minnie in the dress, and classic Mickey..but SOFT ones, not those stiff kind(although I don't think they probably sell the stiff kind at Disney...)

Thanks again!!

We bought a small Sorcerer Mickey after Fantasmic and I want to say it was about $8 (in 1999). The only difference between it and ones at TDS is the embroidery on his foot that states Walt Disney World rather than just Disney. Earlier this year I bought a traditional Mickey & Minnie at TDS during a 50% off sale. They were reg. $16.50 each. I picked up the other three in the fab five (Donald, Pluto & Goofy) when they were 33% off at the end of last year, they were also $16.50 regularly.

Advice - if you want to buy early (or after your trip) at TDS, wait for a sale. :)

You can get stuffed character toys at all kinds of places in all kinds of outfits. Frankly, you can't walk 50 feet in the MK without running into a place that sells stuffed toys! You'll find them in the resort gift shops, all the parks, Downtown Disney...everywhere. There are some designs you will find in all the stores, and some that are specific to only a few locations.

The smallest "beanie baby" sized figures are $8, and you can get them dressed for many of the attractions. My kids picked up a bunch of different $8 figures last week - scuba Mickey at The Living Seas, astronaut Mickey at Mission:Space, "bellhop" Goofy at Tower of Terror, Indiana Jones Pooh in Adventureland, Philharmagic Donald, and many more. (My wife found that buying them one of these every day really cut down on the "I want this...no I want that" dawdling at the gift shops. Yes, it was a bribe, but it was a real time saver!)

There are also some larger 9-12" dolls for $12, and my daughter got a large Minnie (probably 18") Minnie at the Fantasia shop in the CR for $22 or so.

I'd wait for the trip. A toy that reminds them of what they liked best about WDW will be a favorite for a long time.

There's even a store in Orlando Airport. They charge the same price as in WDW, so maybe go there if you're flying in.

They will have the WDW plush at better prices than the parks and resorts. They will also have the beannie cheaper. The only difference is that you will not have a great big selection at the outlets. Depends on what's important to you.

:earsgirl: Being a former cast member from both WDW and The Disney Store I suggest buying your plush from WDW. The Disney Store does have great sales but the selection will be better at WDW (I find the Marketplace the best). I always bought a plush when on vacation there and now I have quite a few and I have great memories of each trip when I look at my characters. You can always buy them at the Disney Store but it is special to buy them at WDW.

Wait and buy one at the parks. The selection is huge and you can get a fairly good sized stuffed character for about $20. My daughter waited and picked out Pooh and then carried him everywhere we went. Pooh has been on just about every ride they have--my daughter claims he loves splash mountain. LOL After she picked him out she didn't ask for another one later in the week. Now that's good news! :p
