If we want to stay at SSR in a studio from 12/26/2008 until 1/2/2009, can I book it all at once or do I have to book day by day to guarantee a reservation?

If it were me, I would book it day by day. I know it's for SSR and it's the largest resort, and maybe I wouldn't HAVE to, but I would.

I totally agree with Bobbi....a few years ago you could just wait until your last day, BUT with all the new memberships, I would leave nothing to chance. Yes the chance is it is very low that you actually have to do it Day by Day, but I would unless there is a reason why you couldn't.

If you'd rather not book day by day, you should be just fine with one call.

To be on the safe side, though, book at least New Year's eve as soon as the 11 month window opens.

If it were me, I'd call MS at 9 Eastern on 2/1/2008, and book the first 6 nights (12/26/2008 - 1/1/2009) at that time. Then I'd call again on February 3, 2008 to add the last two nights.

We stay at SSR for Christmas every year in a studio, because we always wait to book a room until the last minute! I book just 3-4 months ahead, never had a problem, although it can be stressful to wait until then. We just got December 27th, we had to waitlist for it, but if you booked at the 7-11 months ahead of time, you won't have any problem at all.:santa:

I'm curious about that. I want to book New Years Eve in '09, but on the booking date I'll be in Australia. No way I am going to call DVC from Australia.

At least the chances are low that it won't be available at either of my home resorts.

Thanks everyone. If I book day by day, do I end up with a separate reservation number for every night? Or do they keep adding days to my reservation.

After you get the first day booked, just tell the CM that you plan to call each day and that your "final" check out day will be xx/xx/xxxx. The CM will make a note on your reservation and the confirmation letter will be held until you have all the days booked. You'll get one confirmation letter and one reservation number - it will appear to the resort as one continuous reservation (which it is, LOL).

I've done this many times for an early December standard view at the BWV and it is very easy. After the first day, your call to add a night will only take a minute or two. The CMs are very familiar with the day by day reservation process.

On the first day- tell MS what you are doing(everyone will be doing the same thing) and they will "link" your reservations together-so that you will finally end up with one intact reservation. You will not have to move(unless you switch resorts) just because you are booking day by day.
