Question about split stay - Poly and YC

Hi, I'm planning a first time trip for my family. 9 nights/10 days with 2 nights at Poly and 7 nights at YC. I'm only staying the first 2 nights at Poly because the 3rd night is the last night I can check in at YC and still be in value season (the 4th night changes to holiday season). I thought we'd go to Magic Kingdom on our first and second days to take advantage of the monorail. And when we're at YC, we'd go to Epcot, MGM, and AK. We're going from Dec. 17-26. I thought it would be best to stay at Poly first and go to MK on 17/18/19 while the crowds are the lowest of the week.

Does this sound like a good plan, or would you stay the majority of the time at Poly instead?

I'm sure it's a big difference price wise so I'd go with YC. It's a lovely resort, my family actually preferred it to the Poly. Plus, the bus to MK wasn't really all that bad. Time wise it may actually wind up quicker than the monorail once you factor in the stops and the walk from monorail to entrance.

That really does sound like a good idea. We did a split stay one year between the Poly and the Beach Club. We enjoyed both. We did MK and AK while at Poly and saved Epcot and MGM while we were at the Beach Club. We really enjoyed just being able to walk to Epcot and to see Illuminations every evening if we wanted to. Make sure you see the Christmas decorations at the Beach Club and Boardwalk. Also stop at the Grand Floridian and see the gingerbread house while you are at the Poly.

Thanks. I thought we could eat at restaurants in the Poly area while we're there those 2 days (Ohana, Chef Mickeys) and then when we're at YC eat at the restaurants in that area that we're interested in. That should save us some travel time.

Good idea, sounds like you have it all figured out

It sounds like a good plan to me. Don't forget that there's also a boat
that runs between the MK, GF and Polynesian. If you're heading to the MK,
it goes to the MK. If you're heading back from the MK, it stops first at the
GF.

After reading the post about dining, I thought you had a good reasoning.
You may or may not like the Polynesian as much as the YC (or vice-versa),
but at least you'll know this first-hand by experiencing both.

(I happen to enjoy trying out resorts "new" to me.) I loved the Polynesian,
especially at night, and I love the swimming area of YC (Stormalong Bay).
Both have great locations to theme parks, too.

I also like to 'split stays' and experience new resorts. Doing two in one trip makes it seem like a longer vacation for us, I don't know why.

The resorts also supply free luggage transfers so guests don't have to make other arrangements to transfer if they've not driven their own vehicle.

DS13 & I are staying 6nights VWL, 2nights WL & then moving over to the BCV 6nights - same type of plan
