Can you split two meals between 4 people, is that allowed, we will be paying cash, not on the dining plan , thank you in advance!

I was there 2 years ago and it was allowed AND we were on the dp.

Sorry I can't help you with recently.

Hi! Personally, I think that if you want to split a meal you should do counter service. That is just my opinion, so if someone has a different one that's fine. I would not split a meal at a table service, especially one like San Angel that is more pricey. Now, if one person got an appetizer and the other got a dish than that is different.........because each person is buying something.
Just my input

I think you would be best to call Disney and find out for sure if you can split meals there b/c every rest. is different. :)

Have a wonderful trip:goodvibes

I don't think they'd have a problem with it. We were there a few weeks ago and DH got an entree and I got an appetizer. I was worried about doing that and asked if it was okay and the server was fine with it. :)

It got me to thinking - why is it that we worry about this when at Disney? The signature restaurants I could see not doing that - but the other TS places I think would be okay. It's like we all feel this extra pressure to spend enough money on our meal just because we're at Disney. They're restaurants just like anywhere else, but with better atmosphere. We're the consumers. As long as we're not making ADR just to order cokes, it should be okay, you know? We should order what we want and what we're hungry for. JMO :confused3

I think that you should be comfortable splitting meals anywhere for any reason. As a medical professional we have a huge problem with overeating I encourage my patients to do this. Portion sizes are much too large and usually two people could easily have an adequate meal off of one typical american serving. Whether it is due to finances, or trying to conserve calories but still enjoy taste I think it is a very reasonable thing that any restaurant should be willing to accommodate.

Thank you very much for all the responses, Mexican food tends to be very very filling and we really didn't want to go away with alot of waste.
Heat and filling Mexican food can be a recipe for a stomach ache for me and my kids...so I had tossed around the idea of just spliting meals..ha.

DH and I split meals whenever we can, not because of money, but because of health. Most meals are way too big and too high in fat and sodium for one person. I actually lose weight when we do that and I don't care what the restaurant thinks. We are still buying food from them.

People have to reserve restaurants months in advance. I really do not think it is fair to Disney to take up space (I am not saying that people should not go, I am just describing) and order less. Really and honestly, Disney does not intend for people to do this. The portions at San Angel are really not that big. I have eaten here multiple times and I am not a big eater. I always have leftovers when I eat out at home but here I usually do not.
I have nothing against people who do this, but if you do, the server deserves a tip of 30% or more to make up for the difference that they would have gotten.

But......nontheless have a WONDERFUL trip:goodvibes :thumbsup2

Come on isn't this a little over the top, two meal, two cokes for the kids and a few adult drinks can run upwards of 80.00 plus, I don't think the waiter will be missing out on to much because we order two adult meals to split among two adult and two small children.

The price of one glass of Margarita San Angel Inn runs around 8.50 plus itself. A few of these between two adults and the bill could run high and you feel the waiter should be tipped 30% ...20% is reasonable in anyones book.

I do not think the waiter will go away hurt.
