So I made my reservations at the 180 mark. However, I made the reservations for 4 people, but we have now decided to bring my mother in law with us. My reservation is at Le Cellier for lunch. As we all know it's next to impossible to get a reservation for that place. So my dilemma is do I choose another restaurant or hope that they will not mind and will sit us anyway?

Most of the time they will turn you away if you come with more in your party. I would keep checking for cancellations. Otherwise you have to go that day prepared with a backup plan if you get turned away.

I disagree....i've had many cases where an extra person showed up and it was fine. Also, our party had walked up to many places and been seated. Keep trying for a new ARD, even during your arrival, get concierge to check for you. If you still cant get another ADR, then just show up with the extra person. Im sure they will seat you!!! Afterall, you never know until you try. (and yes you might have to wait a bit, but thats not a big deal). It doesnt hurt to have a backup plan thou.

And since it's Le Cellier, it's very likely. It is a very small restaurant that is usually booked up. I'd keep calling and trying to add that extra person.

I would guess it all depends on where they seat you once you get there, if that table can accept one more seat then I would not see why they would not like the extra meal sale. If on the other hand it is a table that only has room for 4 chairs then I would think you are out of luck :confused3

LeCellier is one of the harder reservations to get. It is also especially difficult to go from an even number of people to an odd number of people, for example party of 4 to a party of 5, because tables usually seat an even number of people. For example, 2, 4, 6, 8. So, a party of 4 would be seated at a 4 person table but a party of 5 would be seated at a table for 6. It is not as easy as just grabbing another chair. LeCellier is frequently full and they have to adhere to fire codes. I would keep trying, else, would just book another restaurant.
