Question about private islands for cruise historians

In the summer of 1989, the summer before my Senior year in high school, my family and I went on a cruise with Premier Cruise lines "Big Red Boat" which, I believe was operated by Disney (there were characters on board from what I rmember.) We went on a 4 day to the Bahamas (Nassau, I think) and to a private island that was the most beautiful place I have ever seen on earth. There was a lovely beach on one side and, on the other, a long rock staircase that ended in a magnificent crystal lagoon. Does anyone know which Island that was? Was it CC? For some reason, the name Salt Cay stands out in my mind. I can't find any info at all on the "Big Red Boat." Thanks for your help.

I don't know about the island, but the Big Red Boat was NOT operated by Disney. They licensed their characters to be used on the ship. They pulled out when they started their own cruise line, and then it was the Loony Toons Characters. Now it's none, since they are bankrupt. One of their ships was actually repossessed at a port, stranding the guests and crew!

I was on the Premier cruise in September of 1989 for my honeymoon. You're right, their island was beautiful. I just went and flipped through my stuff from that cruise and I can't find the name of the island, but Salt Cay sounds right.

Blue Lagoon and Salt Cay are one and the same? Wow...I think I just decided what excursion I want for Nassau!!

Wow! Blue Lagoon and Salt Cay the same! I seem to remember, now, that it was referred to as the "Blue Lagoon." I must go back! When we were there, there were only about 3-4 other people in the lagoon part and I remember it as being just amazing. I am curious how much it has changed since then. Is there still a staircase leading to the water?

I don't remember the staircase, but I think we spent most of the time just walking around or lounging in a hammock. Of course, I had stars in my eyes since it was my honeymoon (the stars went away within a couple years and we split up.), but I remember it being absolutely gorgeous. I may have to pull out the pictures again tomorrow and take another look!
