Will be there this spring with grown DD who likes to jog and was wondering if the jogging/walking path between POFQ/POR is well lit and and do you think she will be fine alone.

I have never walked that path, so I am unfamiliar with it.

Thanks!!

It's not that long, but it is easily doable. Plus if she needs a little more distance, she could add the loop around the parking lots at each resort.

We walked that path MANY times on our last trip because our food court was closed at POR. While it is not very long, parts of it that are between the resort builings are a bit isolated, and as I was walking back one evening with dinner for my wife and I, it crossed my mind that I would have been a little uncomfortable with her walking it alone at night.
Obviously, the chances of something happening are very small, but personally I'd be a little cautious. There were a few occasions when I passed no one on the entire path between the resorts. The river is directly beside the path on one side, but on the other side there are wooded areas.

The last time my family an I went to WDW we stayed at POFQ. I only ran 3 of the 7 days because I was so tired from all the walking. I'm 21 so my parents didn't really question where I was running, but I preferred the road that goes around POR and POFQ because it was much longer. I would say that the path along the Sassagoula River is fairly safe, not travelled by many, but safe.

I have been running and coaching running for 30 years. In my opinion, unfortunately, these days it is NEVER safe for a woman to run alone, whether she is at Disney or even in her own neighborhood, where there are any secluded or semi-secluded areas. It is a very sad state of affairs, but nonetheless true.

We have also walked the path quite a bit and I am also a runner. It is a great running path, but like the above poster said, short. I feel completely safe running along it and there is normally other runners and walkers along the way.

I think it depends on what time she'll be running.

We walked that path every day when we were there last April, and there were always other people on the path. Went went early morning, after dark (but early in the evening) and throughout the day.

The boats go past too.

I don't know your DD but i would think as long as she has fairly good common sense and a general awareness of her surroundings she would be ok. I intend to run that path alone when we're there in may but am a very cautious runner! Trust your instincts and don't behave any differently when you're in disney than you would at home when it comes to safety.
