Question about photopass

Do they still give out photopass cards? If a friend is going to WDW the week before us, and they get pics and the photopass card, can I enter the photopass card number on my MDE to have thier pics show up? Or will this not work because their trip is the week before mine?

We had memory maker in Feb. 95% of the time they just scanned our magic bands. We were only given cards with numbers for enchanted tales with belle, Jedi training, and Kyle ren meet and greet.

Do you and your friend both have MDE accounts? If you link to each other through your Friends and Family list, and you click the option next to each others' names in your Friends list for "this person can view and purchase my photos", then you don't need to get their card. Each time you or your friends have pictures taken, the photographer will scan your Magic Band (or a photopass card) and the pictures will show up online in the Photopass area of your MDE. If you are linked to each other, you will be able to see each others' pictures. You will be able to download your friend's pictures from his/her trip, along with all your own pictures from your trip as part of your one MM price even though you're not there at the same time.

If we become MDE friends and link together, would they be able to accidentally mess with my FPs?

This is their first trip and I've been helping them plan, we are buying MM but they are not. I thought it would be nice to download their photos for them but I'm nervous they could accidentally delete my fast passes or something

No, they cannot mess with your FP or ADRs. I was worried about that too! We overlapped trips with a friend last summer, so we did exactly what you're talking about. We became friends in MDE, and she gave me "permission to view and download pics." I downloaded them all and made her a CD.

The part I don't remember is whether I could download her edited photos (with borders, etc.), or whether I could only get the originals. I think I gave her my password, and she made her edits in my account. Maybe someone else can clarify that part.

There is also an option to give permission to "view all my plans" and "viewed shared plans" (I think those are the terms used). We turned OFF the "view all plans" because it was confusing seeing both of our plans for the same day. I guess that wouldn't be an issue if your weeks don't overlap at all. But there was absolutely no way for her to mess up my stuff, or me to mess up her stuff.

The photographers still give out the photo pass cards. You simply have to ask any photographer for one.
Most people just have the photographer scan their magic band because it's convenient, but the cards are still available too.
I'm kind of old fashioned I guess, I still prefer getting a card.
One tip...if you get a card...take a picture of the back of it.
This way if you lose the card you still have the number to enter into MDE.

Thanks for confirming! I thought that was the case, but I couldn't remember for sure and didn't want to give bad info here.

Um, yes, they could accidentally mess up your FP+. They can't, I don't think cancel your ADRs, but they can schedule and cancel FP+. There may be a way to prevent that (maybe by only showing shared plans, but even then, if they have FP+ at the same time, they could change them). I had a party of 18 last week, and could easily have modified or changed the FP+ plans of any of them at any time. If you don't know what you're doing in MDE, I think it would be pretty easy.

ETA: However, if you tell them to never select your name (or anyone in your family) for FP+ or anything like that, you will probably be fine.
