Question about paying for airfare

Hi everyone. I have a dilemma. My husband and I had our debit card numbers stolen very recently and we are in the process of filing papers with the bank. I need to book airfare and I am wondering if there is any other method of payment airlines will accept aside from credit/debit cards? In particular we use spirit or possibly southwest. More than likely spirit though because they have nonstop flights from our airport. I just thought about that last night and got really anxious about it. Has anyone had any experience with what I might be able to do in the meantime without a credit card? Thanks. :worship:

Only other option is to go to either the airport or a Travel Agent and pay cash for the tickets. Definite drawback: Southwest tickets aren't, I'm relatively certain, available via TAs. Potential drawbacks: getting to the airport; or, the TA will likely charge a service fee (because airlines don't pay commission on tickets any more).

I just saw that southwest accepts paypal as payment. Has anyone used this for their airfare? That could save me!! I wonder if there is a limit on how much for one transaction.

I recently use PayPal for AirTran tickets. No problems at all. Transaction went smoothly.

Didn't the bank issue you a new card already?

Yep, I've used PayPal for Southwest. The money came straight from my checking account.

However, I don't remember if my PayPal account is set up as directly from my checking account or through my Check Card number.

another option is to take the cash and purchase an americanexpress card or visa gift card with the cash then use that to purchase the tickets.

I purchased southwest gift cards from Walmart last year to surprise my hubby with a trip so the flight didn't show up on the credit cards. You could figure out closely how may you would need and purchase them?

I'm so sorry to hear you debit cards were stolen. Have a great Disney trip ! I hope you have everything settled quick.

Air Tran, US Airways, Jet Blue and Continetal will let you use Bill Me Later. I have been using this service for the past 5 years and never run into a problem. When you check out to pay look for the Bill Me Later option and go from there. Hope this helps.:goodvibes

Going to the airport can cost plenty too. Delta charges $35 per ticket if you purchase it at the airport ticket counter. They want you to buy them on-line and charge extra to buy it from them in person.

You'll also have to add in the cost of parking at the airport.
