Question about my "Chocolate Wave" at Coral Reef.

I am wondering if I missed something in my desert. Is the Chocolate Wave supposed to have a liquid center ? The reason I ask is everything I have read since I am back home describes it as as a chocolate cake with a white chocolate and Grand Marineir (not sure of the spelling ) center that is liquid. Mine was a chocolate cake that was mostly dry all the way through. Yes it did have the chocolate ganache drizzled on top with the white chocolate shavings and the white chocolate icecream. It seemed at the time llike it was missing something from the descriptions that I had read but because I had never had it before I really didn't know so I let it go. Just curious.

Funny you would post this. When we were at CR I asked DH the same thing. From the description I would not have guessed that it had a liquid center. I don't like surprises in food, so I was taken aback when I cut into it. Did you like it? I thought it was delicious!

Hi DeterminedOne, So did your's have a liquid center? Mine did not and was rather dry. I was glad for the ice cream to go with it. The flavor was good, kind of like a brownie but that was it. I didn't get any hint of a liquor flavor at all and I was looking for something special I guess. The people at the table next to us were having the same thing and said "ooh' don't you just love this desert...it's so rich and delicious" I want to go back and have it again and give it another try. I loved the restaurant. My Ds and I had a table right in front of the glass and the Sea Turtles were kind enough to make frequent visits.

My daughter ordered this dessert with her meal last Sunday and it had the liquid center. It didn't look like it was too much by volume, but there was liquid coming out. She ate it all up.

I'm pretty sure it is supposed ot have a liquid center - there are several restaurants that serve this type of dish, LTT at lunch, CG (DH loves these desserts). However, if it is cooked too long, even just a minute or two, the liquid will cook and become solid. We've sent a dessert back at LTT because it wasn't liquid. The pastry chef came out and apologized. She was working on something else in the kitchen and one of the new assistants was in charge of watching the cakes and let them overcook. In about 5 minutes a new batch was out and the center was liquid and yummy.

Yeah, thanks everyone for your info. From what you all have said it sounds as if I received a cake that was overcooked. I will keep this in mind for next time and definatley give it another chance.

I just got back from having a meal there, and that is the dessert I had. It definitely had a liquid center.

And I honestly think it was the best dessert I have EVER had! It was incredible.

Can you go back and just have dessert?

Yes, please try again if you did not have the gooey center. I had this years ago, but I still remember this as one of the best desserts I've ever had at Disney!
