Question about MM+/splitting visit between onsite & offsite

I have a question regarding using MyMagic+/FP+ and splitting your trip between onsite and offsite, using the same tickets. My boyfriend and I are staying at POR for four nights. The tickets we are buying have an extra day free. We decided that we want to stay an extra day, but POR doesn't have availability in our category for another night (it would be almost $300 more to add another night). I am considering booking a cheap offsite hotel for an additional night so that we can use our extra day ticket. My question is, how would this work when it comes to our MagicBands? We will be using the MBs for the first four days... would they just give us the additional day's ticket on paper tickets? Thanks for your help.

I have also considered staying at a value for an additional night... but honestly, after staying at POP on our last trip, I'd rather just book an offsite hotel.
