Question about lovebugs

We were all set for a trip next April/May, but then I remembered about lovebugs.

When we were there in September, 2015, we never encountered any. I've heard they're pretty thick at times though. Here's my question: IF a lovebug infestation is happening when we go, will they literally be everywhere? Or will it be more that small areas are swarming with them but if you move to a different area they won't be noticeable?

I imagine we could handle encountering a few tables covered with bugs here or there, or possibly a bench over near a certain ride or something like that, but if it's more like they swarm all over the place and you can't go 20 feet without seeing them maybe we should move our trip. I understand they do not bite or anything, it's more the ick factor and a sensitive ds who gets scared of flying bugs easily.

Thanks!

Living here I can tell you a few things. They look kind of like fire flies without the fire. LOL THey are completely harmless but their guts can hurt the paint on your car.
May is a more prolific time for them than Sept but they shouldn't be "everywhere." they are random and don't tend to swarm together but you will see clusters of them. We've had years where they were much thicker than others.
They seem to be worse south of Orlando and in rural areas.

I've been in that time frame many, many times. I've never seen more than 2-3 of the love bugs at any given time.
