I tried a search but could not find an answer.

If the stateroom door is locked from the inside, can just the kttw card open the door. Looking for some private time, but kids will have cards...
:rolleyes1

I don't believe so. They'd have to find someone with a master key to override the deadbolt.

There is a latch to lock it from the inside just like a hotel room. Your kids can swipe the card but they won't be able to get in. You will have to unlock it from the inside. : )

I was going to mention this. Your kids may wonder why the door is latched, but at least they won't be able to just barge in. Maybe there will be a movie they will want to see on the cruise and you can steer them to the theater for a couple hours on their own. :rolleyes1

That's the plan. We just wanted to know there was an extra layer of protection. At their age, a hanging sheet divider is not gonna work. And I just couldn't justify the additional cost of an additional room.

Hopefully the kids won't come back and stand there knocking on the door. "Mom! Mom! Mom! Mummmy!"

I did this to my Mom and Dad once. I couldn't understand why I couldn't get in their room and why they weren't opening it. They 'claimed' they fell asleep with the chair against the door. Now that I'm an adult, I understand, but at the time, I just kept knocking and yelling for them. lol!

Can I suggest you make a rule that before your kids leave anywhere, they have to text you that they are leaving? That way, you'll have advanced notice that they are on the move.

there was a time that people didn't want to reference how the "characters" might have multiple duty on board for fear that some of the younger Disboarders would learn what we thought they shouldn't know.
I guess those days are looooooooooooong gone, huh?
:D

Well, if they are young enough to not know the reality of the characters, then it's unlikely they would be able to follow this conversation as it is a lot of indirect references.

There was definitely no dead bolt lock in our room on the Dream. Is this new? We traveled last year, and the year before that (and again this Summer). I remember disliking it since the stateroom host can just walk in while we are in the shower.

The deadbolt (what's it called - the thing you turn to throw it) was on the door handle plate (under the door handle). Usually it's hiding under the Do No Disturb card.
