Question about Hoop Dee Doo Reservations

I have a PS for the Hoop de doo dinner and show.

I didn't get a seating assignment. The woman on the phone told me that they don't assign seats until you get there.

Yet I read that many people knew where they were sitting before they arrived and wanted to be in the first 3 rows?

I've never been there so I was just wondering if what the woman on the phone told me was true or if I should call back?

Thanks for any help.

hmm good question. when we went last year we just reserved over the phone and got there really really early. We actually sat in the 2nd row.If you don't have anything else you wanna catch up on, i would suggest getting there early. They take your picture and you can walk around the woods. We also got there just in time to see the fireworks for the night from one of the parks. Give a call though it wouldn't hurt if it makes you feel better. good luck:wave2:

I've heard that the seats are assigned based on when you sign-up. It may just be that the person you were talking to doesn't have access to a seating chart.

I tend to think the seats are pre-assigned, because when we went on our last trip, we arrived late (after the time we were told to arrive by, but still before the show started), but were still seated in a pretty good location on the floor level.

The earlier you call for your PS and based on your group's size..will determine your general area.

The actuall seating isn't determined till you get there.

When I picked up our tickets at WL Guest Service (WL is where we were staying)our tickets already had the table number on it. I called to reserve in the middle of Jan. for July 1. We were right up front against the stage and next to the piano. There were 5 of us - it was a table for 4 with 1 person on the end.

We were just at the Hoop De Doo on Oct. 26. We were a party of 3 and sat in the balcony. From this vantage point, I noted that everyone in the balcony area was a party of 2 or 3 and all the larger parties were downstairs. I only saw one table for 2 in the downstairs area, so I think the tables are assigned based on the size of your party. I actually enjoyed sitting in the balcony as we had a great view and did not have to look over anyone's head.

Just a side note, the food is terrible so go and enjoy the entertainment, but I would either plan to eat a decent meal before you go or after you leave. Our salad was soggy and wilted, the corn was soggy, the chicken was cold. The funny thing is, I am not a fussy eater and I am quite content with a simple meal, but this was just plain bad. The homemade bread was the best part of the whole meal - it was excellant.

reservations almost a year ago for next month, I was told that the seating was based on the time the original reservation was made.

this will be our first time but is the food as bad as some have said?

We reserved (party of 6) about six months ahead. We were on the main floor. Our ticket/voucher (whatever it was) that we picked up from Guest Services at the CR had a number on it - a CM that was on his way to work at the show told us that was a good, low number and we would have a good seat, and that we must have reserved early - he could tell that from the ticket number. (I don't think there's a bad seat in the house - the cast moves around quite a bit, even a little upstairs in the balcony.)

The show was just great - sooooo funny. Corny, but funny. You just couldn't help but be in a good mood when it was over.

The food was so-so.....kind of heavy....but edible....the kids enjoyed it....maybe it depends which time show you go to? (Do they make up all the stuff ahead, and then let it wait for the late show?)

Ours was fine. Chicken was good (not great, but good), and was not cold. Ribs were good as well. We were a party of seven (6 adults, one child), and there were no complaints.

I make a point of booking many many months in advance. We're usually a party of 4, I typically pick up my tickets the day of the show. We're always right down front. :p

Hoop and Luau do have a group of about 4-5 CM's that's sole purpose is to assign the tables. They get all the reservations and make the seating arrangements. The seats are assigned based on when you booked however they are not actually "assigned" to you the minute you book. They wait until it gets closer to the show date and then attach the tables to the reservations (this is to leave room for cancelations and modifications as well as get an accurate floor plan for the parties sizes that are booked for any given show). It does not matter when you actually pick up your tickets as the tables are pre-assigned. Sometimes when you pick up your tickets at a resort they have to call the Hoop/Luau help desk to get your table number attached, this just simply means you are picking up your tickets before the tables are linked to your reservation. No worries...there really is not a "bad" seat in the place, even the seats on the upper level (or as the call it "the shelf") are good :)

i'm not sure how they do the seating, but we thought the chicken and ribs were good. this is definitley not gourmet food, but for chicken and ribs, we enjoyed it. we also enjoyed the sangria! we are seeing the show again with our children on New Years Eve.

We just saw HDDR on Oct. 28th with our party of 7. When I called in August I was not able to secure a table with all 7 of us, so I had them split us up. Well lo and behold when we got our tickets at the resort it only had one table number on it and when we were escorted to our table not only were we at one table we were right up front!! I guess another party of 7 backed out - so thanks to them we had awesome seats. Although I can vouch for there not really being a bad seat and DH, DD and I sat in the balcony last February and we loved it up there also!

Our table thought the chicken was very good. Ours was nice and hot and very tender. Most liked the ribs and everyone enjoyed their salad. The beans and corn were okay. Our table liked the sangria and beer too! :)

We ate there last feb with a group of 6 and didn't make ressies until about 3 weeks ahead. We were on the floor but in the back..still it was very enjoyable. We have ressies for 9 next month and we will see where they put us...they had to split us up , but she said we would be right next to each other. We enjoyed the food. No problems with it.. it wasn't the best we ate there, but certainly nothing to complain about..my hubby on the other hand had one sip of his beer and that was enough.... watery he said, but he likes Japanese beer and miller lite is not a good comparison!

Kapp, I have to reply to your post because I have to ask you...is your screen name for the Shirley Temple's movie Capn January?? I absolutely love that screen name if it is! I think I have memorized every one of her movies and would love to get them all in DVD in black and white (but they only seem to sell them in color). sorry, I digress.

You'll love hoop de doo! Its the funnest show. We must be strange, but we love the food there. Anything for home cookin. The chicken and ribs are delicious. Which show are you going to? We once showed up early for the very first show and smelled the ribs cooking, mmm. And they cooked for a long time, so I do wonder if they cook them all up at once. We'll be going on Jan. 12th at the 7:15 show, can't wait!!

Sorry to disappoint! Its an old nickname from college, nothing to do with Shirl. Take care and thanks for the info.

Thats ok. I thought for sure since she was part of your signature that it was the case. Have fun at HDD!!!
