Hey all, my parents own a 29 foot 5th wheel, which they tow with a F250 Diesel.

They are currently in Montana working at Glacier National Park, but are heading back home to Florida in a couple months. They were wondering if I could find out if anyone knows what the laws in Florida are regarding hauling a trailer behind a 5th wheel.

They mentioned they see it all the time out there, but wanted to make sure it was legal in Florida. The only time they would be doing this is when they go to Disney, so they could haul a golf cart behind the 5th wheel.

Anyone have any knowledge on this? Thank you very much.

Hi! We live in Florida, and we've seen it done before, but I'm not sure if it's legal. I'll do some checking and let you know...

Ok...from everything I'm reading, it looks like tandem trailers are legal in Florida, as long as they do not exceed the overall weight limit on the road or bridge.

To be safe, they should probably call a trailer place, or AAA to find out for sure. :goodvibes

Thank you so much! I will definitely do that, and if anyone else knows more, feel free to share.

I'll go ahead and make a call right now, thx!!

this was brought up before here. if you seach here you will fine it. i rember someone saying ball to ball was ok to tow .it was about towing a golf cart behine a trailer. good luck

We just found out that there is a length requirement that varies from state to state. It is usually 65ft. A couple we know has a 37ft 5th wheel with a crew cab truck and jeep, they found that they exceeded the length here in Texas. I don't think this is enforced strictly as I have have seen many tandem trailers with boats and cars going down the highway.

You can pull a trailer behind a fifth wheel trailer but not a two trailer combination ( except Indiana, I think ). We pulled our 7x10 trailer with either a golf cart or our Harleys, for two years without any problems. We were 66 feet in total length though ( oops ) :teeth: .

I know pin to ball is ok ( 5th wheel to trailer) but not sure if ball to ball ( like if you were pulling a popup and another trailer......) it does have to be under a certain length though....

I know Friends of ours use to pull a golf cart behind their 42' fifth wheel. I don't know if it was legal or not but they did it without any problems.
