We are booking Discovery Cove for Dec. I would like to book just my 2 girls for the Dolphin Swim (age 6 1/2 and 10). Will my hubby and I be able to watch them while they do this or does one of us have to book the swim also? Hubby and I already did a Dolphin swim in Cancun a few months ago and if you didn't book the swim you couldn't watch or take pictures. Just want to know if DC is like that also. Thanks!

when i did this with my brother, my dad didnt do the dolphin swim. He was able to stand at the beach and video tape from afar. You get to see them but its not close.

Last Sept. my DD8 and I did the dolphin swim while I had my DSis and DM take picures and did video.

Here's a pix Dsis took of DD riding dolphin.

We loved the whole experience that day and would go back in a second! This year it just might not be in the budget. :confused3

Quick question-is your 6-1/2 y/o old a strong swimmer? My DD can swim but I wouldn't be comfortable with her out there on her own (without me but with a trainer) as the water is very deep where you wait for the dolphin to come and pull you to shore.

Have a great time, it's a wonderful park. And the food is really good too-try the lobster salad!:cloud9:

You'll be able to watch them and take pictures from the beach area. It's not really, really close, but it's not like at other facilities where you can't even see the swim going on. You're probably... oh... maybe 20 feet or so away, give or take a bit. Not necessarily the best for taking photos (unless you have a long lens on your camera), but you'll be able to watch!

As far as I know, they do not /have/ to be accompanied by an adult. I took my little sister when she was ten, but didn't have to do the swim with her. So, it's your call if you want one of you to get in the water with them.

=)

All the trainers are lifeguard certified so that shouldn't be a worry as they also have the lifevests as you can see from the pictures.
