Question about Dessert Party and Wishes time change

We are getting married 2-22-12 at Sunset Point at 2:30. We then have a reception dinner/dessert party scheduled from 6:30 to 8:30 at Sago Cay Pointe. When I signed my contract Wishes was scheduled at 8:00pm it has now changed to 10pm.
Will I be able to extend my dinner time at Sago Cay or change the start time of the dinner? I sent an email to my planner asking about it but she is on vacation this week and is out of the office the following week much of the time with other weddings so I am guessing it will be a few weeks before I get an answer back from her.
Thanks for any advice or suggestions.

I don't know for sure but i'm pretty sure you'd be able to change it no problem to 8:30pm to 10:30pm but the question is do you want to have it that much later?

I don't think you can extend it as i'm assuming your an Escape bride and therefore are only entitled to a 2 hour reception. You could have a 2 hour reception and then a 1 hour dessert party but that would mean 2 seperate f/b minimums to meet.

Thanks for the info. Yes I am an Escape bride and was afraid that is what the answer would be. This throws a big monkey wrench into my planning because my ceremony is at 2:30 and I really don't want to wait until 8:30 to eat. Oh well I guess it is back to the drawing board.

We weren't given 5:00 as a choice. I assumed it was because it gets dark earlier at that time of year otherwise that would have been my prefered time.
This wedding is becoming a lot more stressful than I anticipated. I guess I will have to wait patiently until my planner gets back to me which is something I am not very good at.
Thanks for the suggestion I wish it was an option.

I would ask your planner about a 5pm time slot. I've looked and Sunset is at 6:21pm on Feb 2nd next year so plenty of time to have a ceremony before it gets dark. Another option is when I was booking mine I found out the ceremony times aren't fixed if someone doesn't have the next timeslot but they'll only confirm that nearer the time. So if both 2:30pm and 5pm are free and they think 5pm will be too late maybe they'd do 4pm?

That it a great idea. I will talk to my planner about it when she returns from vacation. If I can't do that my other thought is if I have to pay the minnimums for both a reception and a dessert party is to move the reception time up to 4:00 and then have the dessert party at 9:30 so there is a break between them.
Thanks again for your suggestions they have been great.

If you can afford to do both reception and DP with a gap its a good idea. I had my reception 5pm to 7pm but it over-ran to 7:30pm, then my DP 8pm to 9pm (Wishes was 8:30pm) and hardly any of the DP food got touched.
