Question about character meals and missing the characters

I have several character meals scheduled for my 5 year old (he's never been to one). But I am concerned about him missing the characters.

He has some stomach problems and is on a lot of meds for it. When he eats, he usually has to go halfway through and can take a good 30 minutes in the restroom. We usually tip extra when we eat out just because I know we'll be at the table longer than normal customers. Luckily everything is a buffet or family style so if his food gets cold he can get something else after.

But I am worried about him missing the characters. Will they circle back around if I let the waiter know? I will feel horrible if he misses out on the fun because of his stomach.

We've had to leave our table due to GI issues or autistic issues. Servers are pretty good about notifying character handlers if you let them know, or if you see the handler around you can even let them know yourself. The handlers are wonderful about making sure that the characters come by your table if they've missed you. We've never had to miss out on a character due to not being at our table when they come by.

I would let someone at the restaurant know so they can let the character handlers know. We've been at a few character meals where we have decided to leave before all the characters made it to us (seems like it's somewhere between 60 and 80 minutes for a full rotation). We didn't particularly care about the ones we missed but even then one of the handlers noticed and had Lilo come over to see DD.

I'm sure they will work with you on the scheduling. Of course you could always stay through 2 rotations. (It sounds like you might anyway)

I second this. Ask them at check in to put you in a section where the characters are about to be. I have only had one character meal but we ate at Crystal Palace and we had just missed the characters. We were there about an hour and only saw Tigger. (but at CP they also have a little parade with the characters and all the kids so that takes some time) As long as you make a point of telling the CMs they will help you out.
