Question about California Grill

My family wants to eat at California Grill after hearing nothing but rave reviews. However, there is an issue for me; I'm claustrophobic. I know it is high up at the Contemp, so my question is, how do you get to the top? Are there stairs, a regular elevator, (can't do these) or a glass elevator (I don't like them, but I can go in them)
Thank you!!!

Regular elevator. Sorry, there isn't any other way to access the 15th floor. There are stairs but you can't go up them, only down. This is the kind of thing you'd have to call and ask (I'd find a number for the Contemporary Resort) but I'm not sure you want to walk up 10-15 flights of stairs.

Thanks for letting me know! Even if they did allow me to climb the stairs, I don't think it would be worth the hassle when we can just go to Yatchmans

I would avoid California Grill as I have never been impressed by the food or atmosphere of CG. I personally believe you will have a much better meal at the Yatchman's

I hope so! We go there every year and love it!! So we know its an excellent restaurant :)

We love California Grill. We always get an ADR before fireworks then watch them from the viewing area.

If we're talking alternative great signatures to the California Grill, I'd also like to sing the praises of the two over at the Grand Floridian as well, Citricos, which is the main building, and Narcoosses which is a short walk on the grounds, the latter is super easy to walk to and you won't have any stairs at all since it is off to the side by itself in it's own building. Disney has quite a few amazing signatures besides the Cali and also even non signatures which are similarly outstanding and elegant as well. So many options. For some reason the Cali takes all the buzz.

We loved our 1st California Grill experience this summer. I am super claustrophobic, but I can handle the elevator. There is an attendant to take you up and down. The elevator is not huge, but big enough for me.

I really liked Citricos, which the above poster mentioned. It's in the main GF building and is really good!

We enjoy California Grill and go almost every year. The elevators are good sized and rarely full going up or down.
We have not eaten at Yachtsman, so I can't directly compare, but California Grill is much more than a Steak House. Even if you don't stay for fireworks, the view over the Mk is beautiful.

DH is fond of Cali Grill but I personally prefer Citricos (not that I don't like Cali Grill, I'd just take Citricos over it if it comes to a choice).

We were not very impressed with the food at California grill [especially based on what we paid]....It was quite pricey with is ok for a special vacation dinner but the food was good, not wonderful....Look into Yachtsman, Narcosees or Citricos.

We went to California Grill for the first time last year and really enjoyed it. The views from the restaurant are amazing. Lots of big glass windows, so no worries about feeling claustrophobic once you are up there. But, unfortunately, you do have to take the elevator up. They are very accommodating and I'm sure would let the attendant take you up alone so you didn't feel like there were other people pushing into you.
