Question about borrowing for a dec use year

I always get confused with borrowing with my Dec use year. I am planning to do a trip for Dec 2021. Planning on using some points from 2020 and all of 2021. Would I be able to borrow from 2022 for Dec or would I need to make the trip a Jan trip? Planning big trip with lot of family. Thanks for the help!

You would be able to use ALL of your 2021 points. You can borrow up to half of your 2022 points. Your 2020 points would have to be banked into 2021 by 7/31/21.

We have a Dec UY. We have a trip planned for Dec 2020 using banked points from 2019, all of 2020 points and half of our 2021 points.

It's tricky, thinking about it. You have to NOT think about the actual calendar, and just think about your points being "available" every December. Or pretend the calendar starts in December.

Always just figure out UY of trip. Then you know you can use banked points from UY prior to trip, UY of the trip, and borrow...currently 50%...from the UY after the trip.

Since your Dec 2021 trip is in your Dec 2021 UY, you can book with banked 2020, 2021, and borrow 2022 to complete the trip, up to the limit.
