Question about Birthday Buttons

Hi! I'm traveling to Disney World and Universal Studios in September/October to celebrate my 30th birthday. We've got a huge slate of activities planned, including MNSSHP, a couple of dessert parties, and we sprung for Express Unlimited passes at Universal.

I know that Universal offers birthday buttons, and I'd like to wear one because I'm celebrating a big milestone. The hiccup is that my actual birthday is in August. Because of work obligations I couldn't travel for my actual birthday, and I chose to do it in Sept/Oct because I love Halloween. Is it alright for me to still get a birthday button? I don't want to abuse a nice thing that they offer, but this is also a very special trip for my mom and I and if it's acceptable to wear the button I'd like to.

When I was there three years ago, the guy at the entrance asked, if we were celebrating something. I told him, I would turn 40 the week after and he gave me a birthday button and said, you cannot be everywhere at once So, have fun wearing it!

I would wear it. We planned a trip to WDW for our anniversary last October. Life intervened and we ended up going in November. We were still celebrating though so we got the buttons. When we checked in at the Swan they asked us if we were celebrating, we said we were celebrating our wedding anniversary. The desk clerk asked how long we'd been together, which given the law and all is actually a pretty different question than how long have you been married. We answered the question asked--20 years. When she pulled out a sharpie we realized what was going on and quickly corrected that we had only been married for 2 years. The clerk looked at us and said "I can write down either number but my guess is that 20 more accurately conveys what you're celebrating."

We wore them the whole trip. I had kind of planned on the employees being cool about it--lots of congratulations and free dessert. But what really struck me was how amazing other guests were--so many wonderful conversations and heartfelt congratulations. We even had another table send over a bottle of champagne one night and a couple we didn't actually meet picked up our tab at Nomad.

People want to celebrate with you. Wear the button and let them!

Last fall when we checked in, they asked me if we were celebrating anything this visit. I told them it was my birthday, but it wouldn't be until the day we checked out. They still gave me a button, I wore it everyday, most TM's wished me a happy birthday, and The Palm gave me a little dessert and a signed birthday card. So I say, go for it!

My twin daughters, who turned 14 on April 6, got birthday buttons from the Royal Pacific they wore March 28-29 (because I marked birthday when I made the res). They each got a certificate for a free dessert at one of their restaurants, but we didn't eat at any of them, so we didn't use. Many, many TMs wished them "Happy Birthday" both days they wore the buttons. They did get free cupcakes (the $1.50-$2.00 type) at the food court where Krusty Burger is at US. Not advertized, I was buying 4, she rung it up, then noticed their buttons and corrected. It obviously was fun enough that my very shy girls wore the buttons the second day.
